I was 18 and stupid

I Miss Att

So, as you read I was 18 and stupid.

I had 2 cell phone carriers (At 2 Different Times)....Spint & ATT....

Both of them I owed money to... so I totally f*u*c*k*e*d up.

Just for the record. My fault.

Well so now for the numbers:

Sprint: I OWED 1900.00 but they charged it off, sent me a letter, paid a 250.00 deposit and got the service back.

At&t: I OWE them 1250.00 😲 late charges, going over, line cancellation fees, its all adds up....

Now, my problem, at&t is the ONLY cell phone company that works in my apartment building, and all of my neighbors have it and love it...I only get 0-1 bar, and most of the time have to stand by the window just to get a call through.

Is there any change that at&t will charge off my ac...

Its highly unlikely they will write anything off. I don't know how long ago you did all this but Sprint is in kind of bad shape which is most likely the reason they let it slide. I'd say your only chance is to get a pre-paid phone with att. (the Pick-Your-Plan options are semi-like postpaid) In the mean time I'd say start paying off that bill, you don't want that on record.
You can always try calling them up and seeing if they can do anything, unfortunatly that doesn't often work. ☚ī¸ Sorry for the hopeless filled message.

What you can do, is go into a store, and have them run your application with the social security 111-11-1111 they will have to do an analyst review and since their won't be a hit on your social you will default to a 500 dollar deposit(which you would have anyways if you paid off your balance) this will be your best option unless you want to do gophone pick your plan which is a hybrid between prepay and postpaid service. You could also see if anyone you know will sign you up under their name. These are pretty much all your options!

That wont work. Just because you don't give a SSN does not mean they cannot still run a credit check. They can use your name and birthdate from your ID to obtain the exact same information.

and not to mention no self respecting rep would even allow you to run a credit check with 111-11-1111 as the social.

They should. No company can legally demand that you give your social security number. I don't know how it works with AT&T, but if someone denies to give out their social security number to Verizon, we just run it with 999-99-9999. It gives the maximum deposit, but you can do it.

Given the turnover in the Wireless Phone industry and the debt young people stack up I would rather pay the deposit then give my SS to any 20 something who may be desperate next week.

I have had an account opened in my name at New Egg lol Got the address of the kid in Florida who ordered himself a nice Camera. Also someone made a purchase at Apple using another card.

Since then I have put a freeze on any cr...

You honestly think anyone and everyone that asks should have access to your SSN?

How did you twist what he said into a declaration that anyone who asks should have access to your SSN?

Ashdizzle....I'd that even is your real name, I've set several people up using this method, typically it is people from other countries working here for a few years as consultants that don't have socials. It can also be applied for someone who doesn't want to give out their social. You could go as far as making up a funny name with a fake address for that matter you will have to pay the 500 deposit.

Your best option is pretty much like my best option...just pay it off... I had Sprint for about 6 years and switched and I am so glad I did... Never had Verizon or T-Mobile... at&t is the best I have had as well...so I am just gonna pay them off...

AT&T doesn't usually write accounts off. They send it to a collections agency. They have it for a few months. Then, if they are unsuccessful in collecting, it goes to another collection agency and another and another. I saw one account that had been passed around to 6 different collection agencies over a time period of 3 years. Even if they do write it off, you'd still have to pay a big deposit.

If you pay the past due off, they will send your credit check information in to the bureaus, and if it has a negative score (which two huge non pays like that will probably do) then you will have a deposit. but if your credit is good then it wont be a deposit

You do have a few options here....

1) Have someone who has an ATT ft plan already add you on. If you have a parent that is willing to set up service for you, that may be an option too.

2) In my market, folks with a default account can still get service with an $800 deposit. As long as you pay on time for a year with no suspensions or disconnections, you would see the deposit back in a year.

What's wrong with pre paid?

It's a shame a cell phone which one can live without will be the reason you will have to pay high interest or be denied the really important things in life for the coming years.

Forget the phone worry about your credit rating. Fix that.

And we wondered why they raised the drinking age from 18 to 21 when we were young.

So I assume that you are all of what... 19 now? How is it that you managed to mess things up so much within such a short timespan? My advice, FIX YOUR CREDIT. Getting a company to simply write it off isn't gonna work. Most companies have the policy- You made the debt, now you can pay for it. Trying to write off a bill shouldn't be on the top of your list for things to get taken care of. Repairing the damage should be. Go with GoPhone & don't get into another contract unless you are truly ready. PAY for your debt. You incurred it. Do not expect someone else to take care of it for y...

That's exactly why I asked that question.

He appears to believe that he is responsible, but at the same time appears to believe he should not be accountable.

Frankly, considering his title, I don't think much has changed in the nine months.
