Contract issue

Here's the story I want some advice.

I got a phone for my mum for her B-day the good son I am. The phone was defective so i took it back to Best Buy where i purchased it. Best Buy rep said that when i returned the phone the contract would come off. I waited a week then two to make sure paperwork was not the hold up and check still it was on my line. I then decided to get the phone for her by renewing another line via online since that is less a pain in the behind. I got the phone it works great. I then promply forgot to call in and ask for the other contract to be removed. Any ideas how much run around i'm going to get to get the contract removed? Because if I did then i would have 2 outa my 4 lines of service out of contract and ...

That... hurt to read. Seriously.

Your first mistake I think is going to Best Buy.. I mean.. why??? Second... the phone was defective. Why did you not just swap it out for a new one, or did Best Buy not give you that option? It would have been easier to just swap the phone / exchange model. No big.

You need to actually grab your receipts and contracts and go to a corp store. Ask to see a store manager or assistant manager. Only one of them will be able to do the full access functions you need for this.

You have a couple of options:

1: Go back to Best Buy and ensure they filled out the proper return paperwork - ask to speak to a manager their if necessary.

2: Call customer service and explain your situation. Most reps will tell you that you need to have Best Buy complete and fax in the proper paperwork to have your contract removed, but you might get lucky and get a rep who will be willing to assist you, but they will more than likely request you fax in proof of the return, such as your return receipt.

3: If you're simply looking to get the contract removed b/c you want to upgrade that line to another phone, taking your paperwork (receipts) to a COR location and explaining the situation might work as they may be able to either ha...
