I got my old phone (before it got stolen) online and paid a ONE TIME activation fee. Then, on my bil, I got charged, again! Has this happened to anyone, and what did you do? My mom just paid the bill but she's still calling Cingular about it. TIA!! 😁

Nope, my mom has been on time with her bills. The people at Cingular says that the online fee (that I paid) was taxes.. but it CLEARLY said ONE TIME activation fee. Just for this reason i'm not going to Cingular and my mom is canceling.

when you activate a new line, even if its for a shared plan, you pay a 1 time start of service of $36.00 the only way you don't if you activate all the lines at once, since that way you pay for that on the main line.

It the same if you add another line next month, you par the start of service on that newest line as well. But i got news for you all cariers charge it, if you don't like it, go pre paid but pre paid plans sux!

It does not charge at checkout... It displays the activation fee so that you cannot call in after you recieve your bill and say "I was not told there would be an activation fee..." a previous post advised you to check your credit card statement... i suggest doing so.

So, what? they didn't waive it? If you were double charged for one line, then they should have waived it.

If they did, then you weren't really serious about getting service anyway if this make you cancel.

*sigh* I want to be in Business Sales..

Nope, because they give us the bullshit how the online fee was "taxes" and that it wasn't activation. Go on the Cingular website and try to get a phone and it says "ONE TIME activation fee".

Actually you are wrong about that, but just 1 thing. When youget a phone, whether its free or discounted. The government still charges you taxes the regular retail price. For example the v-220, regular retail is $179.99,the government is still gonna tax you on the non discounted price. So Tax is generally higher and billed to the card.If he got a 249.99 phone, and discounted he still pays that discount and the reg. retail taxes.so it all depends on the pohne he chose and reg. retail value.

I'd definitely call about it (website sucks), but did you pay for the phone with a credit card or was it added on to your bill? Activation and upgrade fees are billed items, so it shouldn't have been up front at all. Who can tell though... *kicks the website again*

You don't get charged the activation fee online when you place the order... If you just made a payment online for the activation fee you would have recieved a confirmation via email... We can track that payment with that confirmation number... But if you made a payment when you placed the order... it was not for the Activation fee... You don't get charged for it at checkout...
