iPhone

I'm thinking about getting an iPhone. However...I have a couple questions about what I should do.

Is it really worth getting 1st of all? Secondly, if I get an "unlocked" version...how to activate? I know I can just throw in my sim card..but how will I activate the iPhone data plan, etc? Will all the features work correctly (i.e. visual voicemail, etc.)?

Thanks

I've been using one for the past few days. Its a cool phone, gets ok service, and is well made.

I can't however get used to the virtual keyboard. Especially after using my curve for 2 months.

The email application is really cool for my yahoo account, super easy.

The web browser is cool, but it is frustrating that some times I am trying to move around the page or zoom in or out and it clicks another link on the page.

Unless you absolutely need internet everywhere you go to browse the web then ignore the post above. The iphone is a unique phone which is in a class of its own. Email runs great off our edge network and the iphone has wifi so it still allows you to use highspeed within hotspots. Not EVERYONE needs 3g...

Read user reviews on cnet, or even phonescoop.

You wont be dissapointed

the iphone is the most over hyped phone that ever came out. but the iphone was designed for music and internet so yes 3g would have been nice.

The Iphone offers music and internet. There is no way it was over-hyped. People still rave about them now and they are amazing devices. The user interface is in a class of its own. Dont be mad because you dont own one 😉

Again, if you dont need to browse the web outside of wifi-hotspots this phone is an A+

that's a dumb statement. The iphone is hyped yes but over hyped no way. It is still amazing even if it doesn't fit that perfect phone image that every cell phone enthusiast is looking for. The design, functionality, style, size, visuals, touchscreen, ipod aspects are all amazing and revolutionary. Every phone manufacturer is now trying to figure out how to keep up.

I personally do not give a crap that it doesn't have mms, that is a kid feature to me. As far as Edge/wi-fi vs 3g I have wi-fi access in all the places I go, outside 3g coverage strength is stronger and works fine for quick normal internet needs. The phone is amazing if that's what you want. If you are a 4,000 a month texting whore....DON'T BUY IT. period.

someone else who "gets it"

Most people who talk **** about the Iphone have never had one and are just stating facts based upon negatives. This is an amazing phone the revolutionized the cellphone industry. Notice how quick Crapizon was to come out with the voyager aka "the iphone killer" as per Verizon CEO's... I laugh at the Voyager

IPhone is a "me too" Phone as in "I got one too".

Its a "toy" compared to phones like the Nolia N82 and N95. The "top of the line" music player phone does not even have Stereo Blue Tooth!!!!!

Not only do I have it. My wife has it as well.

Yeah it costs twice as much but is 10X the phone.

5MP AF Camera. whats that worth? $200?

Full on GPS (not Google Maps) $200?

30FPS Digital Video? $200?

WiFi $200

N Gage Gaming machine $150?

HSPDA/G No iPhone
Stereo BT? NO Iphone
MMS? No Iphone

Contract? NOPE

NO Itunes or any special Software needed ...PRICELESS....

Keep trying Peppy....Your HAsbro IPhone will serve you well. OH and by the time you buy the Next Gen iPhone that HAS some of those things You will have paid more than one N 95......

Sure did Peppy! And those prices were low for those features if bought separately. Of course you would not know that since you are inebriated on Apple Kool-Aod.

Wow, are you 12?

Last time I checked you can't just buy "GPS" perhaps you can buy a product with GPS in it but I have never seen a retail price for just global positioning system.

ALso, being an adult I could care less about n gage or whatever that is, if you really are married you shouldn't care either.

I don't think the iPhone was created to compete with the N95. But does the N95 even have 850 mhz...or is it only 1900 mhz?

You can't even buy a N95 on the ATT website. So why are we even talking about that? I'm confused.

I did read that Nokia is trying to get its US share back (after falling to Motorolla and Samsung) and i'm sure they will be updating their tired old phones and such... but I have to give it to Apple for creating a phone that is actually fun to use. I've played around with one for 2 days now...and its really cool.

The N95 for the American market has all bands including European.

And yes. Peppy....... I enjoy N-gage when standing in lines or on the crapper at the Mall. I guess you don't have an Xbox Peppy? You live life so seriously. No game playin but Ya got a gimmicky toy for a phone..Go figure.

Yes you can buy a stand alone GPS unit for $200. But this one actually gives BT directions and not just a "where am I?"

To answer the ATT don't have it question. I buy phones I want that can be used on the carriers networks. I do not want the carrier to decide what features I can use or have their branded products to save a hundred dollars on a cheap phone and sign a two year commitment.

You are right the iPHone is "cool" But the N95 is far ...

if anyone has $800 to drop on the phone feel free. I have a house, bills, & a life to spend my money. I sold my blackberry and ultimately only paid $100 for the iphone. I feel pretty good about that.

where are you getting $800 from. They can be purchase for less than $600! Just Because you have financial limitations ,it does not negate the fact that the iPhone is great if you do not want MMS,Push/Exchange E-mail, 3rd Party Apps, Filesystem, GPS, A2DP, 3G, MSC, great photo and viceo capture, IR, 3d Gamimng............

BTW I will admit the iPhone is definitely worth $100. You did well.

$800? Show me a N95-3 that coats $800.......Most are less than $600.

That says $620 plus shipping so you are wrong with your "most are less than $600" I have to pay shipping because the nearest Nokia store is like 2,000,000 miles away.

Your data plan is $10 a month? how does that work? you have unlimited internet for $10? prove it.

Not having it linked to a company means you are SOL if you have any problems with the phone. I choose customer service because I know how to deal with CS.

And today its $609 a FAR cry from your $800 claim. Yes My data plan is not unlimited. I don't need unlimited data I use the WiFi more then ATT. WiFi is everywhere. 3G is not.

If I have issue with the phone I do what anyone would do. Send it to Nokia (just like A...
