Yeah, the iphone is cool. But is it a good PHONE?

I have held and played with enough iphones to know that they are really cool. I love the UI and all the fun things you can do with one. My main question is this...is it a good PHONE? By that, I mean how is the reception and the voice & sound quality? I love the fact that it's wi-fi and the ipod feature seems pretty impressive. But my number-one priority is it's ability to be a good phone. Would I be disappointed?

nope. I've had one since October 2 and haven't had any problems as a phone. No drop calls, easy to move from one call to another. It's pretty solid.

That’s good to know. Like I said, I’m really impressed with all the cool stuff that the iPhone can do, but I need it to work well as a phone.
Will I need a special calling plan for the iPhone? I currently just have a standard “Family Share” plan with no texting or data or web access. I probably still won’t worry with those things. I’d like an iPhone for the phone, iPod, PDA features, and Wi-Fi. Is that possible, or will I be forced to subscribe to a more expensive plan?

$20 a month is about what you'll be force in to. Includes unlimited internet and 200 messages

I like the Iphone, my only draw back is no MMS, only way to get pictures is to have them e-mailed to you...

So would I HAVE to buy that extra stuff if I didn't want it? I know..I know...Why have an iPhone if you're not going to have the unlimited web? right? But now that they have lowered the price of the iPhone, it's not a bad deal even if you just use the stuff I'm interested in. I don't mind spending a little more up front for a cooler phone, but I don't want to have to add $20 a month more to my bill.

I thought about that. I might go that way, but the iphone is only $100 more. It would seem kinda dumb to carry two different devices when, for $100 more, I could have it all in one. Like I said earlier...I don't mind spending a little more up front for a good phone, but I'd rather not add another $20 a month to my bill. I dunno. I'll pobably change my mind a few hundred times before I actually do anything. 😕
