So I just got this phone for my COU device, and I have to say, its ugly.

It's not bad. I have a Curve on my COU. I don't know if I could ever replace a BlackBerry..I'm just addicted to BB messenger and pinging people for no reason at late hours of the night just to be ridiculous. 😉

Retail on the Q is $500, but you may be able to talk an agent down a little, and when I say a little I mean very little, cost is a bitch on that thing.

You won't talk an agent down at all unless you add PDA connect or something. There is pretty much no money in the phone at the no commitment price.
I can tell you I would not discount the phone. I cannot afford to carry a phone at that cost and not make anything should it be sold outright.
