Funny "wind" noise on all calls

My current phone is a HTC 3125, and I also used a Blackjack for about 45 days. Both phones have this "wind" type noise when I talk on them. (No, I am not outside) It's hard to really explain...like a shhhhh sound. It comes and goes on all my calls. This is my first GSM phone so I am not sure what it is.

I have talked to the local ATT store, all just look at me strange. I work in the cellular field for 10 years and have never seen this from AMPS, TDMA or CDMA....

Any help would be great!!!

Thanks!

All GSM phones do this. If you hear it, it's because the person you're talking to is either driving or outdoors (as in at the beach)

Can't say this to be true. I get it when a person calls me on a land line, and I will be inside my house, or in my office.

I guess its a GSM thing then, and it sucks! Can't see how people can handle that. Oh well, back to CDMA I guess.

How can you say that it happens to everyone? Besides your own experience you just can't blindly say it's happening to everyone. For Instance I get no such noise when I use my phone (an older v551).

Well, I did not say that. Look at the last post. "by the_eraser" said that it happens to all GSM phones.

That and the lack of responses make it seem like he was right.

This has been explained to me as a 'spectrum allocation issue' that affects a few areas 'where tdma is just taking way more spectrum than needed'

If this sound that you're talking about resembles a bad tuned radio or as if there's an air leak somewhere. This will go away with TDMA.
