Have Blackjack ... thinking iPhone ... have questions!

I have a Blackjack, but my company is switching our department to Macs (work in video/print department). This switch doesn't make my Blackjack worthless as it would still sync to email via our server. Only loss of features would be the ability to sync my tasks and notes which must happen via USB.

My question is, with the recent $200 price drop of the iPhone, I am much more inclined to go that direction. I have a couple of questions I need answered:

1) Currently I have a family plan. On my Blackjack, I have the Unlimited Data/Web & 200 text messages add on. If I swap my sim out of my Blackjack to an iPhone, will my current plan work? I guess I'm asking, does the iPhone require a specific data plan?

2) Anyone made the Blackjac...

The iPhone data plan would be the same price as what you have now EXCEPT that what you have now is not the correct plan for your Blackjack. Technically the price for the iPhone plan is cheaper than the price for a PDA (which is what you have).

Be aware that a re-rate could happen.

I have noted your account.

Are you saying my rate would go down?

Ok, so now I'm slightly confused. When I got my Blackjack through AT&T, they set me up with my current family plan and added the data/web plan to my account (right or wrong).

If I already have a family plan for minutes, what do I need to add to use the features that make the iPhone what it is. And how much does that cost?

Believe me, I've learned my lesson with having the wrong plan. I want to be above board and be able to use my phone with peace of mind!

The iPhone data plan is $20 for unlimited web use and 200 messages. The plan you described is for unlimited medianet and 200 messages. As you have a PDA with a full web browser you are required to have a PDA connect plan (they start at $29.99 for 20 MB).

The iPhone plan would be the same as you pay now (on the wrong plan) or at least $15 cheaper than the proper PDA connect plan ($10 less for the data and $4.99 less for messaging 200).

well, i hope i can help. My son has the Blackjack and he loves it. he likes the fact that he has all the accessability that he needs as far as SMS/MMS goes and got his email set up just fine. My wife has the Iphone, she loves and uses it for EVERYTHING now, really the only withdrawal she is going through is simple MMS. from what i've seen is, blackajack is great for more busisness type lifestyle, Iphone is for everyday life, simple business(contacts, schedule). If i were you, hold off just another month and see what Apple throws in, they're adding iTunes for the iphone, and who knows what else. my wife loves the grocery/todo list widget i got her.

Keep the Blackjack. It's a good phone.

Just buy an iPod touch. You miss the phone, but you already have a good phone. And you will save money.

But then my pockets are getting full of stuff. I'm not sure how much money I would save. Thanks for your thoughts, though, pjones! I'm really leaning toward the iPhone. Any other thoughts out there?
