Unlimited TXT/PIX/FLIX is not unlimited?

In2Wireless

I just got a $1500 phone bill from Cingular aka The New AT&T. 😲 It seems that even though I added the unlimited family texting plan to cover all four of my lines, I am still responsible for all the kb usage it takes to download or upload all the picture/video messages that we receive/send. 👿 Why is that? 👿 I thought, like I'm sure many many other customers do, that if you have a plan that is called unlimited then you can just send as many text/picture/video messages that you wanted to and never incur any other charges. Boy was I wrong!! 😢 I went from a bill which is always $100 to a bill that was $1500!! Ouch!! 😲 Anybody else have the same issue, or am I by myself?

Not yet, although I hope they do. I was told it would take them a week to get back with me...just in time for my bill to be due.

They should be getting back to you with the re-rate amount. This sounds like a billing error. The kb used to transfer MMS messages are NOT part of the kb used for medianet browsing.

Exactly. If you have KB of downloads on the bill, it's not from MMS. The phones were probably on MEdia Net.

Well, I questioned that. We went over all 40+ pages of my bill, 🙄 and was assured that I was indeed charged for data usage to transfer pictures/videos. 😕 Oh, and was also charged for 11 picture messages @ $.25 each even though the unlimited plan was in effect. Yes, I agree that there seems to be an error.....

Do keep me posted on this. I had the same issue, although my charge was only an extra $60 or so. It was after I added the unlimited Text/MMS/Im plan. I was told by a CSR that even tho MMS and IMs use "data" that they do not go against any data package, that it is included...they only thing is that you have to have at least Pay per use data on your phone so that you are provisioned to send/recieve MMS or I'ms. So thats what I did. And I myself had several KB charges for data exchanges..........and I DID NOT ONCE USED MEDIA NET!!!!!! I called customer service when I got my bill and they instructed me that the rep who added my unlimited text/pic/im plan misinfomred me.....that "Indeed if you use I'ms or send MMS messages you are charged f...

I am a dealer and i have seen this a few times since the unlimited was launched. The unlimited text/picture/video is exactly that. there should be no charges or internet used to send any of these. there must be something wrong with the soc code and its not taking the internet charges off. Also ant what ever rep you talked to was an idiot why would they put out charge you 20 bucks a month for unlimited text then another 1 cent pre kilobite for internet that is retarded.

So you used about 140 megabytes of internet from sending photo messages?

That's more than double what I use and I have a PDA.

Most of my photos are about 50k, which would cost about 50 cents to send.

So another way of breaking it down would be about 2,800 photo messages.

I'm not saying it's impossible. That package can cover up to five phones. That's just a LOT of data.

I looked at my last bill which had 7581 txt and 110 mms. That used about 284 kb of data, which would've cost me $2.84 if I didn't have a data package. I'm really curious to see what your bill looks like.

And I am not disputing the fact that it is alot of data. I do have four phones, two teenagers, and my husband works out of town. This is our only means of communication. Landlines are out of the question since we are never home. I just wanted to know if this has ever happened to anyone else. I mean, I went from everything (TXT & internet) being blocked on all the lines to unlimited text. Nobody said anything about needing a package for internet. I was just told that in order for picture/video messaging to work internet had to be accessible.

It's true that you need it for the messaging to work. That's just a staggering amount of data. Have you already gotten the bill or did you just look at it online?

She shouldn't be, which is why I wish I could see the bill detail. The amount raises enough of a question but so does the circumstance.

Saw the detailed bill online and printed it. Also got the real bill in the mail the same day which was a condensed version. I went over it with a fine-toothed-comb and a highlighter.

You were charged incorrectly. Data usage that is used when sendind/recieving mms should not be charged to you. More than likely the reason they told you it would take a week to ten days is because that credit is over their limit, and they have to send it to another department for the adjustment.

🙂 Dear God I hope you're right! You would think that the data charges for sending those pictures and videos would be something that is included in your package! I looked on the ATT website, and it does say that if you have an unlimited package that you are not charged any more. You know I work for "the competitors", and our unlimited text is unlimited. Period. And you don't have to have the internet to send/receive those pictures or videos. I know, because I sell that unlimited texting plan AND block the internet for those who want it blocked. Everything works, because it's standard procedure to make sure everything works before they leave. It would be bad if you sent a customer out of the store with a phone that made calls but wouldn't sen...

i find this SUPER hard to believe unless it was just a glitch or something. I sent 132 pics this month and have only used half of a meg of internet total all month.. that's including anytime i've checked my horoscopes or anything on my TREO!!! weird... that's all

it sounds like a billing issue. i think in one of your other post that you had everythign blocked. if you did and added the unlimited message package, they had to add wireless internet pay per use. the system probably didn't catch that it was using data for mms and not transfer. if the person that took your call submitted the correct form for it, it will get fixed. i hate to say but some reps do not know that things like this happen and just submit for the credit without getting it fixed...

Ah, yes! I can vouch for that! 😁 Some people really don't understand that if there is an error they should research why there is an error and fix that right along with getting the customer the credit. I see it every day, and I usually get stuck being the one to go back in to see why it's still going all wrong even though they got their credit.... It's just that I work for the competition and not for ATT, so I can't see my own accout. 😕
