I was wondering why do we have to pay 36 bucks to change our phone number? When I was with sprint i could change my number for free all the time. And why is it that Cingular phone insurance does not cover ALL phones??? I was considering switching but i want the red pearl or the curve.
Because numbers are in short supply. When a carrier runs low they have to pay for numbers, and since they come from blocks of 1000 numbers, aint't cheap. Its also a deterrant for people who think they can just change a number whenever they want to do things like avoid collections, breaking up with a partner then giving it out, etc...

sorry to have to say that but sometimes that's the only way to get anything done
no i can make the biggest point for the insurance limits
its easier for u to steal a GSM phone and reuse it opposed to stealing a verizon phone which could be blocked for later use since it was reported stolen
its fraud that caused that to happen and the inflated phone cost we have to be aware of
phones aren't really $50 like u think they are unless u commit to us for a period of time
so thats the reason we can't offer u insurance on your $500 dollar PDA because someone else aready said they lost it and got a new one for $50 and scammed the industy of GSM

Hey LicorShot: If you own a GSM phone and know your IMEI number you ca report the phone stolen and the provider can render that phone unusable whether it was unlocked or not.
Myth. The US carriers currently DO NOT blacklist phones. I REALLY REALLY wish they did, but they don't. Europe DOES have a blacklist, but those theives can just sell the phones on eBay to countries that DON'T blacklist, eg: USA.
