I am returning my V3xx
This p.o.s. drops calls all the time - it seems every time it wants to transition between 3G and 2G networks (which happens often).

I doubt it "drops calls" all the time. Remember, a dropped call is when network traffic gets too overloaded and kicks you off to free up some bandwidth - basically nothing to do with the phone.
You might be experiencing low signal or no signal in some areas.
Try a CU500, you can easily switch between 2G and 3G networks with that phone.

The v3xx is the best phone ever. Maybe it's because I am in a different area, BUT, I have NEVER had a dropped call. I have the blackjack too, and I drop signal with that phone. Definitly exchange it. Try it again.
