Apple iphone and MS Exchange

Does anyone know if iphone will be configurable for corp exchange email like windows mobile is?

On Moto Q I can use active sync, mail.domain.com and use my AD user name and password and get my mail. I haven't been able to find any info on whether iphone will support a simuliar feature

That's because there is no info. There's still far more that's not known about the iPhone than is known. The biggest question mark is on the data applications. There's the strong implication that it will be completely closed to 3rd party apps, but there's lots of speculation that this will just mean Apple will act as a filter for phone apps.

Will it run a form of Java at all? Or JVM? Who knows?!?!

As for email, everyone and their dog wants to know that, but there's been no word one way or the other. I would strongly suspect yes, as they'll want the device to appeal to as many people as possible, but I could just as easily see them leaving corporate exchange servers out in the cold, making it mainly a consumer device.

I think it will depend on the version of Exchange you are using.

I bought an E62 back in September with the intent to set up email over the Exchange server. I think that someone was conspiring against me, because 1 or 2 days after the return period, my work converted to Exchange server 2007, which only allows Windows based devices. I know it was supported for Exchange server 2003, but had not had the chance to set it up. I would expect the same for the I-phone

Yes, the iPhone does run MS exchange. Not all providers offer it yet, but I know Intermedia and a couple other providers have offered it for a while.
