What Cingular Data plan recommended for Nokia E50?

I'm re-posting this because my earlier post's subject line was inappropriate... I'm hoping maybe someone with answers might see it now:

I am trying to make sense of Cingular's various data plans because I would love to purchase the Nokia E50 that just recently came in at the flagship store in NYC.

I am not trying to cheat with the plan, but of course I don't want to waste money either.

Does anyone knowledgable about Cingular's data plans have any good advice for me?

I've sifted through these boards & found similar discussions re: other phones, but not about the new Nokia E50 yet.

Anyone?

But will Cingular's MediaNet allow me the same access to surf the net & view websites in full?

or can I only view simplified versions of sites via MediaNet?

Great - thanks for the advice.

Now what's the difference between the various Media Net plans and the Smartphone plans? Seems the Smartphone plan would work for me.

The smartphone plans include Xpressmail. If you need the that service than get the smartphone plan? If you don't need the service get a medianet plan.

Last I heard the Smartphone plan and the MediaNet (unlimited) were both $19.99 anyway, right?

yeah media max is 200 & unlimited media net versus the smartphone connect being unlimited and saving the $5 on the express mail option.

Just get Opera Mini 3.0 and call it a day. Your pages will load faster and you'll have cool features like history (to get back to pages you already visited) my space, etc etc..

Try a MediaMax, but I can almost bet Cingular wants you on a Smart Phone Connect.

I'd be very happy to get the SmartPhone Connect plan, but 3 of the people I spoke to at Cingular separately told me this phone is not considered a smartphone, that it's considered a PDA -- despite the fact that it doesn't have a querty keyboard (which I hear is the excuse their giving Blackjack owners...)

Also, how different is the SmartPhone plan from the MediaNet plans? Aren't they essentially the same thing with a different name & pricing?

By what my store has been told, it is NOT a PDA. PDA means full keyboard apparently. This would fall under Smart Phone with the 2125 and 3125. And yes, that is their excuse.

Essentially, you have the differences right there. Name and pricing. Pricing is higher because the browser a Smart Phone or PDA uses transfers more data than a regular phone. So regular phones that use lesser data get Media Net/Media Max at a lesser price. Smartphones aren't as much as a PDA but more than a regular phone. And then on PDAs they just rape you on data plans.

cingular should have no way of identifying which phone you are using. A Media Max plan should work just fine. It also has the ability to use blackberry email in which you would need a black berry connect plan for 44.99.

p.s. Enjoy the e50 I had one for a month until I lost it under my bed and didn't find it for 3 months.

Well, it was on silent mode, I wasn't home I called my roomate and told him to go into my room and call it. No one could hear it so I activated a new SIM and used an old nokia phone but I was pretty stoked when I found it. But it just sits at home on my dresser I like my SE w710i better.

If I am not allowed to sync up with my work email (due to crazy strict corporate rules), is there any reason to bother with the Blackberry Connect plan?

The only other email I use in AOL & I've heard if you have a free AOL account, you cannot use the push services (or maybe they were just referring to Xpress Mail???)

Sorry to ask all these questions, i'm totally new to all this & this site has been so hopeful so far.

AOL requires that you pay a fee to have your emails pushed to a device- however some of the "phones" that have mobile email built do not require that same thing. However, there are many pluses to the blackberry connect- mainly ease of use and set up. You don't need the settings for your email in most cases just your username and password. The one downside is the price though.
