Unlimited SMS with Cingular!

retrolike

Mar 31, 2007, 10:17 PM
I was told by a trainer today that we will have a unlimited sms/mms plan shortly. I'm not talking about the $5 add-on for unlimited at&t, but a unlimited for everyone. He wasn't sure on the pricing, but hopefully it will be here soon.

Wont happen, Cingular wont risk losing money on an unlimited text package.

I disagree. I think they see the potential of pulling in more revenue and in turn making a larger profit off of text messages if they were to introduce a true unlimited text package.

Raising the price per message to 15 cents surely has caused a decent amount of non-plan users to avoid texting as much as they had been and if there is a large enough demand for an unlimited plan (which I believe there is), Cingular would benefit. Certainly a few hundred thousand of users on an unlimited texting plan would bring in much more money than those same customers would on texting without one. And sending the text messages over the network itself costs Cingular next to nothing in the long run.

Time will tell.

I was told the same thing by my RAE on Saturday. It's coming, unknown when or pricing. By the way, supposedly the new mobile to mobile texting is selling like crazy, and that's the reason they decided to offer unlimited messaging in general.

🤤 YAY! I'll belive it when I see it ..........but I sureley hope this happens soon! I 100% agree that Cingular would profit so much more from offering unlimited text.......and yes the demand is MOST DEFINETLY there. Every time I call cusotomer care.....i ask the rep "when is cingular gonna come out with an unlimited text plan"....of course the answer is generally the same.......either "I don't know" or I don't know, but I sure wish they would" then I ask them how often they get asked that question and it's allways "all the time", in fact its one of the MOST asked questions.

I have stacked customers in the past. Like two 3000 packages for $39.98 and it worked.

in some markets we have already launched free mobile to mobile (att to att) messaging for $5 addiotional....it will probably launch in all markets soon...as for straight up unlimited, we will see...if the demand is high we may just follow the tmobile route...but i would imagine itll cost $25-30 a month. 😉
