Cingular, the Pearl & switching from Verizon
I have spent days deliberating on whether or not I should switch to Cingular. I am in love with the Pearl but I've heard that I shouldn't get a phone with edge when 3g stuff is here to stay. Anyone want to talk me into it? Wirefly will give me a pearl for free after rebates and I am loving that deal.

The only way I would recomend to wait is if you are planning on using the cingular 3g content such as cingular video and music. On the pearl if you use opermini browser it loads just as fast if not faster than the internet browsers on the 3g phones.

Because they are the devil and you shouldn't support evil things. But the main reason is they get the sale and people like me end up doing the customer service. They are hacks.

I understand that...tell me where I should go then, corporate store? I need to apply my employee discount so I could potentially get the phone through the corporate website. But, being a former sales rep, I wouldn't mind someone selling to me if they are money.

I work for an agent and our prices are pretty much set in stone. I have some friends that work for corporate stores and if you bring in the wirefly ad he says he can pretty much do anything with the price. That is in our market though so I don't know how it would work in yours.

the pearl isn't even edge, it's gprs, and i wouldn't trust wirefly since they've already had several lawsuits regarding their rebates, and if your not satisfy with it cingy is not going to return your phone, you have to mail it yourself, and if you switch anything in your plan the first few months wirefly will charge you.

yeah i know, wirefly is risky, I just love the price. I will go with the store, much easier to deal with in case there is a return involved.

Just negotiate, it's the best way to get the best price, where i worked we didn't honor wirefly prices because we couldn't match their terms and conditions, like charging them $500 if they switch plans (deal breaker)

Well sir, I took the advice of some and steered away from wirefly. I ended up getting a pretty good deal on the 8525 through my work since they do all their wireless services through cingular. The only frustrating thing is I ordered the phone on Monday and there was a credit card issue so I'm still waiting on the phone.

Please do not go through wirefly. I work at a Cingular store and I personally see more returns from Wirefly than any other online 3rd party. The rebates are almost impossible to get and they sign you up for the most ramdom services. I have the Pearl and LOVE IT! it is clearly the best phone I have ever had. I also have fewer pearl's returned in the store than any other PDA. That sometimes can be a good indication of good success.
