The sad story of my W600i
Nothing is forever and that seems to be the case of W600i. I cleaned my phone with some clorox wipes (me being a f*** germophobe as usual 😡) Apparently some liquid got inside the phone when I wiped the keypad and now it's showing some weird numbers where the name of the icons used to be. I can't beleive this! I used to clean my phone all the time, but this time I killed my phone 😢 This happened two nights ago. I took the battery out and left it open (hoping that it will dry eventually) but I got home this evening hoping it'd be dried/fixed but still nothing! I have gone through phones pretty much like any other cell phone junky out there. But this phone will always be remembered as one of the best phones ever!

I am so sorry for your loss. Maybe you can just get a new one. I got one on eBay a couple of weeks back. It was new & had all the stuff. Only cost $140. Or who knows... Maybe this is a sign from the phone gods to upgrade???

It is most likely for the best because very soon the 4 screws that held the swivel on were going to back out on you and it would fall apart.

I think this happens to people who put their phones in their tight pockets 😳 I had that phone for about a year and that never happen to me.

Update the software using the Update Service available on sony's website. Even if you have the latest just do it. It will fix it. Good luck!

If the phone has water damage, how can updating the software work? But, I guess anything is worth a try now, right?
It'll be better to buy another w600i off ebay as getting yours repaired would cost more anyways. Or like everyone else said, maybe this is sign to upgrade now. 🙂

None that I'm aware of. When we need an update Tier II just sends it to the phone, they take care of it all.

I was thinking about doing this cuz the phone is not ruined. I mean, the phone comes on and everything. It's just that instead of names I have some weird numbers/codes. If I get a call instead of "Joe Calling" I get "4:2147 3:4127" weird eh? 😕

Probably not. My phone didn't have water damage (I didn't drop it in water) I was just cleaning it with a clorox wipe and I guess some water got inside the phone's keypad. It was more like the phone was corrupted or something, cuz it never stopped working. It just showed some weird numerical codes where the names of the icons used to be.

My phone came back to life after doing a software upgrade! 😁 I'm so happy I could dance!!!! 🙂

Ur lucky I had the same problem with my w600i. I was roaming in mexico and all of a sudden my phone showed the weird numbers u described. I called customer service and they sent me a zx10. Like u the w600i was my favorite phone I ever owned probably because it was different than everything else that was out there at the time. I now own a blackjack and this is my favorite phone right after my w600i.

It is a shame! I carry a W600i and a W810i with me most of the time... And I always have people trying to buy the w600i from me. 😡 They never ask if I'm selling the w810i. People always have something to say about my w600i.. I guess it is the swivel design... It's funny watching people trying to figure out how to open the phone the very first time they get their hands on it... 🤣 I'm sure that happened to you too! 🤣
