I've noticed alot of people in this forum calling rollover a rip off... I am not quite understanding their reasoning... I'm wondering if they just don't know how rollover works or what... This post is more to understand what people don't about rollover... Because i'm sure if they knew how it worked... They'd know that it's an awesome service.

How do you figure? (Not debating... I really am just asking)

Using the Nation 450R Unl m2m 5Knw for $39.99 as an example...

because people seem to think that if their minutes are rolling over then they are paying for a service they did not use, which is not true

That's how I feel i've seen people save a ton of money off of r/o... Personally... I wish the big companies started offering unlimited... I'm sure it's not cost effective... but it would be nice.

The only reason i would say its a ripoff is because if a customer pays extra to have roll-over (if customers have to pay more) and they NEVER go over their min. Then they just wasted cash. But its a nice thing to have as a coushen (spelling). BTW im not a cingular cust or rep. I think it would be great if maybe the more expensive plans offered it built right in.

Good news! Rollover is included at no extra charge on GSM Nation plans $39.99 and up. You don't have to pay anything extra for it. It's part of the rate plan.

I am a cingular ep and rollover is not a rip off. If you use under 200 dt minutes a month u do not need rollover try a 29.99 non rollover plan. If you use between 350- 500 dt a month rollover will work for you. ANd if you sign up for a plan that is to big just move down to another rollover plan and keep your rollover.

Yep. Exactly. You on today, or are you enjoying a day off by browsing the forums? I'm at work and it's been pretty slow so far.

Rollover is a great idea in concept.

If you have a customer that is rolling over 100+ minutes a month then they are paying too much for their rate plan.

For example I have a 500 min plan. On average I use about 400 minutes. This is a family share plan too. Now say I have rollover. Ok I get all these minutes carried over. My plan is say $60 a month. Out of a 12 month period I go over my allowance by 10 minutes one month.

If I was on the lower price bracket of $50 I would had spent about $5 on those 10 minutes overage.

On my $60 plan those same 10 minutes would have cost me nothing. IN THEORY. Actually factoring in the additional $10 a month I spent to get my rollover minutes.. Those 10 minutes cost me $12 EACH minute.

How did I...

that's all good logic, and bein that you're on a family talk plan it works wonders for you. Here's my argument:

Most of the people that I know who use family talk plans give their kids a phone on thier service line when they hit a certain age (that age is steadily gettin lower too) assume, 16. This way the kid's now driving and Mom can keep up with him/her better. This kid has NO CONCEPT WHATSOEVER of overage in most cases. So now we have Mom, Dad, and Chris (good p.c. name) who are all using the same pool of say, 450 min. Scenario A:

Cingular GSM Nation FamilyTalk 450 w/rollover:
Mom: 100 min.
Dad: 75 min.
Chris: 300 min.
Overage: 25 min.
Rollover min. from last month when Chris was grounded: 100 min.

75 min left in

only one problem with your logic.
If you have Rollover, you keep those minutes you don't use. You aren't paying for them again.

Use the 450 rollover national plan as an example. You only use 400 minutes a month, so you have 50 left over every month. On a 250 non rollover plan, you'd get charged overage of 150 minutes per month. On the rollover plan, you would have minutes saved up for an emergency or a month with heavy usage. So, say for example, next month you use 750 minutes on my 450 minute plan. Would you rather pay 350 minutes of overage or would you rather have paid 39.99 a month and not had to worry about it? Those 300 minutes over just cost you 135.00 bucks if you didn't have rollover. It would have taken you 6 months to accu...
