um... verizon and cingular and sprint all have the same plan rates for shared plans... sprint is the only company that offers unl text and cheaper data packages... all have their plus... alltel kinda sucks to me because the coverage map on website is unclear and they charge for roaming which is a deal breaker... i have sprint and i love it... i have cingular also and only problem i have is dropped call like nobody's business... basically you will pay the same for each just depending on phone and coverage in ur area...

It depends on where you live.

I choose Cingular/at&t Mobility because the new phones are amazingly cool, they don't lock their bluetooth or restrict applications, Rollover, international roaming and wicked fast HSDPA. I rarely have coverage issues.

I loathe Verizon so you will not catch me saying anything good about them.

Alltel should not even be in this decision making process.

Go with Cingular. I have had them for a year and it has been great. I had Sprint and it was
the service was not good.

Considering our needs are vastly different than yours may be you should post them and ask why each carrier will meet said needs.

Or better yet, if you don't know already, find a local store to help you. The odds of finding someone here with specific knowledge of your town/city/neighborhood, etc. is between slim and none.

all i can tell u is the only two companies that should be in the debate is Cingular/AT&T and Verizon..

Verizon and Cingular are the leeaders in the technology that each offers.

Alltel should not be compared or mentioned in the same breath....

the only reason i ever mention the word alltel is because the Jacksonville Jaguars play in Alltel stadium and well you get the picture..

If you are looking for an exciting technology with far less restricted phones then go with Cingular....they have a lot of new stuff coming out and with HSDPA there seems to be unlimited possibilities...

First i was told the tech could handle up to 3.6 Mbps downloads but now its been bumped up to 7.2 Mbps

Cingular has the network restricted to 1.8 at t...

Sorry about that, I should have mentioned what I am looking for and where I am at. I am in the Cleveland, OH area and I honestly just need the basics. My biggest request is good coverage, I don't want to have to deal with dropped calls or bad reception. I currently share a house with some friends and I got the luck of having my room in the basement. I am currently with Verizon and very rarely do I drop a call down there. I also use text messages quite frequently to avoid some unnecessary conversations. I have compared the 3 and price wise and they are all pretty close. Right now I am with Verizon and just broke my phone(long story), I had the moto e815. Either way I was just going to renew and get a new one, but there isn't one phone...

Is your plan $59.99 or higher and have you been in contract for at least a year? You may be eligible for an early upgrade with VZW. Cingular does the same thing for their customers.

I am eligible for an upgrade, but I cannot get the $100 off because it hasn't been 2 yrs. There really is no phone I am interested in at VZW that is the problem. If push came to shove I would find something if I had to though.

Just my two cents:
I am about to make the switch from Verizon to Cingular. I have a few good reasons why, but I've always been happy with Verizon. My contract is up in 3 days so it won't cost me anything. If you still have a ways to go on your contract, I'm sure VZW has at least one phone that you could learn to like. I hardly see it worth a big fee to switch. If you wait 'till Sunday, I'll sell you two Basic Samsungs with spare batteries for cheap. They won't impress you, but they work perfectly and they can hold you over until your contract is up.

Thanks! I may take you up on the phone offer. Why are you switching over?? The reason I was thinking about it was I am getting married and am going to switch over to a shared plan and like I said prior about the broken phone. My contract expires in July and her is the following summer. I am paying about $50 a month and she is paying about $70 a month, so even with the term fees we would make our money back in about a year if we went to a plan that cost about $80.

I actually have a few reasons to switch. My wife was provided with a cell phone through her job and it is on Cingular. So with me on Verizon, every time we call each other we are both using minutes. I also have many friends and ...

another good option about GSM is if you break your phone you can always get the SIM replace and get a pre-paid phone.

i would probably dismiss Alltell, seeing as most of their plan charge roaming, and the phone selection seems somewhat limited. Cingular and Verizon both have the same, cingular has roll-over but it's not gold and some really nice phones, while Verizon has very good customer service (from my experience) and some pretty nice phone, but their credit standards are pretty high. I would just check your coverage area, and use the trail period (cingular 30 days, verizon 15 days)
