How are customers taking the whole at&t name change?

It is frustrating telling people the difference between at&t wireless and the new at&t. But it is easy to understand once you know the history. I even had a guy saying that he deserved to be let out of his contract because of the merger and it was a violation of his contract. He said he hated at&t and he liked cingular and wanted nothing to do with them. What a punk!

But I just tell them it's a name change; nothing more. Kinda like Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Sean Combs. The name changes, but the product still sucks ๐Ÿ™‚

I think a more accurate analogy would be like this

Then he was the artist formerly known as prince
Now its just prince again.

Ah, but it's more convoluted than that.

First we were the artist known as SBC wireless (in some states)
Then we were known as the funny Spanish word "Cingular"
Then we ran into one of our third cousins and absorbed them like a conjoined twin in the uterus
Then we waited a year and took up living their life like in a bad horror movie.

Geez, looks like this question is still honestly unanswered. Basically, our customers are sort of hesitant on AT&T having anything to do with us. If it isn't that, then they are blaming the AT&T part of us on random things messing up for them such as billing, plan changes or reception.

HA! Reception has changed. part of the concession they made was to shread some spectrum, look at before and after at&t/bellsouth/cingular merger coverage maps and we lost coverage in MS, LA, TX, NE, UT and KY. but we did gain some coverage in teh great states of North Dakota and Montana!
