Does anyone know how t-mobile data (speeds, content, structure) compares to AT&T Wireless? There 19.99 unlimited Internet plan looks great. AT&T charges like $79.99 for an unlimited data plan. From what I've heard and those price difference it sure seems like tmobile data is inferior.

T mobile has t-zones and t mobile internet and AT&T has mmode and AT&T wireless internet. Mmode is really the same as the internet just bundled in smaller packages. What about t-zones vs. t mobile internet.

What I want to do is link a bluetooth t-mobile phone up to my bluetooth palm pda and be able to access html sites. I can do this with my current AT&T wireless bluetooth phone and html sites. I am doing this with mMode but could also do it with ...

With T-Mobile, it's easy and cheap - $20 unlimited - or even free if you can get the right plan. No restrictions.

AT&T has EDGE, though, which is 3x faster than T-Mobile's GPRS. (You need a good EDGE phone, though.) If you're just doing email or WAP, it won't make a big difference. But for full HTML pages on a PDA like you said, EDGE could be a decent boost in speed. But of course the downside is cost - with AT&T's current plans, it's pretty expensive.

As for coverage, expect AT&T Wireless to continue improving noticeably over the next 1-2 years. They are still actively filling in and optimizing their GSM/GPRS network nationwide. In two years, it should exceed the coverage and quality of their TDMA and analog networks (which is general...

I believe T-mobile won't allow you to use their $20 unlimited plan for tethering to laptops or pdas. I would only be for accessing the internet through ONLY your cell phone.

Nope. It's for unlimited data period. You can use a cable or Bluetooth with laptops, PDAs, whatever. It doesn't matter what device or what you do with it. 😁

And actually, I was wrong. They dropped the price - it's only $10 now - unlimited.

If you just want Internet on your phone (WAP / T-Zones), they have a separate plan for that - it's $5/month unlimited.

Their standalone plan for laptop data cards is $30 unlimited.

Yes, Sprint does frown on tethering. And on their only Bluetooth phone, they only allow a 3MB plan. You can't get unlimited for a Bluetooth/latop setup even if you're willing to pay the $80 unlimited rate. 🙄 Same with tethering - they don't support it, even if you're willing to pay big bucks for it.

Wow I thought T-Mobile would do that too, I guess they're willing to risk abuse of that. 🙂 AT&T is dropping some of their PDA plans to 49.99 unlimited I belive, so you might like them especially once they come out with EDGE PDA's and stuff. ;)

Hmm - now I'm confused. 😕 I just had a T-Mobile customer service rep tell me they don't offer anything for Bluetooth or tethering setups - it's all prohibited like Sprint. I know that's not true - they do allow it, intentionally or not. But their policy is unclear. I know the T-Mobile spokesman has said their policy is that you can do whatever you want with it, but if that's true then their customer service isn't in the loop. 😕

Good ol' reps sometimes don't know what they're doing. Tethering could be HUGELY abused and I tend to agree with that rep you spoke to Rich, that they frown upon it... its just too abusable :/ I'd be surprised if they did allow it.
