I have had alot of negitive feedback on GSM. The coverage apparently sucks compared to Digital, especially if you dont live in a major Metropolitine area.

Heya Kaarbon while I hear where you are coming from I must say your response is biased, 1st you work in a TDMA call center where the only time youll hear from GSM customers is when they are unhappy and have reversed migrated and 2nd since you live in Canada you are not in contact with many "regular" ATTWS customers who use their phone happily and don't contact care.....just my 2 cents.....BTW im in Canada too so it wasnt a blast at you!🙂

I cant disagree with that statement..I know the signal is definetly an issue, roaming agreements have grown - because before you werent able to make a call unless you were in a GSM ATTWS Network, but now you are able to roam, which is basically what the majority or our consumers rather do... The Multi-Band phones ericsson t62u and siemens s46 are options to gain more signal 😉

Like I said before, ATTWS service(TDMA) works great here. I think they share USCellular towers, that is why I have great coverage in Gainesville and the surrounding areas.
Unless ATTWS comes to my area in the very near future, let's by 1/01/04, I'll probably need to switch carriers and hopefully by the new year I'll be also beable to keep the same number. Even though Gainesville is not one of the top 100 metro areas.

Well, I would definetly wait until you possibly cant any longer, after that than you may have to switch cell providers. I hope that we DO get more coverage out by you because we definetly dont want to loose you as our customer. The funny thing is that customer care isnt really updated on when and where new towers will be put up, so as much as I want to assure you that it will be up in your area, I cannot. 😢

But, we appreciate you waiting this out as long as you have already!!! 🤣

You are so right on that, and I tell you that I STILL have TDMA service, although GSM is very good in my area. But thats what 4-5 years in building does for the network. I know that this GSM is going to be awesome when it gets to the level that the TDMA service is at..but the hard part is getting there! 🙄

I was told by a Tech rep that there is more GSM towers just slightly then TDMA. But it was in the Austin market on a call so maybe he was just talking about the market.

Well, the coverage area is definetly going to grow, but unfortunately maybe just not in the time frame that our customers need it in. I know that patience will definetly play an important role in all of this! 🤣

You ask for experiences from customers on ATT GSM network. Heres my experience with your GSM network. You may not want to read this it blast ATT network really bad.

I started out on your TDMA network as a business customer. I had your service for years. I got the best service and best cell coverage ever, period stop end of sentence. Nobody could touch your network. I even put my wife on your network. I was talked into your new GSM service with the Siemens S46 phone when it was introduced in Tampa. I was assured that I would get best of both worlds. GSM where it was available and TDMA where it wasn't. Sounded great, I upgraded Along with a few others in the office to the new service. Hey! you could sync with outlook. Life was gre...

Hi DaveTampa, I'm FoxFire and I know what you are going through. And the only word that can describe it would be "S**T".
I would suggest Verizon is probably a better bet to deal with. I haven't heard Great things about T- Mobile, Cingular or Sprint.
In case you are wondering, I'm not in the cellular "work force". I'm in the medical field, so I'm not bias. Before you chage carriers, do the homework.
Best of luck.
