A little piece of advise, Big Daddy.

Take What you can get until you find something better. There's always something better, and you may not be able to quit now, but that doesn't mean you can't always look for another job. You just might be surprised as to what you find when just looking idly.

I don't like my job either, and am currently in the process of looking.

Yikes as a current ATT customer thinking of renewing this is pretty disconcerting especially if this is a reflection of many ATT employees with the Cingular deal.....

think I will be safer with the seeminly happier employees at Cingular?

I do empathize with you though. Company takeovers render most employees either moot or worse unemployed...especially layoffs.

What are you guys complaining about? I love my job w/ ATTWS.

And thanks for scaring off customers...sheesh. Don't need employees that do that anyhow.

Just what is it that is making working for AT&T so horrible? Better than the other cell phone companies in my opinion...

Amen to that.

Sure it gets stressful at times and there are some customers out there that you'd like to reach thru the phone and give them a "what are you thinking" slap on the head.

But overall, the company has great benefits, great wages (at least where I'm located) and the people around me are very laid back.

In our call center, I have spoken with other reps who've worked for Cingular, Sprint and Verizon and ...

I always new Attws sucked I'm an ex-customer, but to hear people that work for Attws. saying Attws sucks.
Keeping saying stuff like this and you will keep losing customers.
If Attws sucks so bad, cingular can't be to much brighter to want to buy them out.
Like most things in life people need to do their research before invvesting in a year or two year contract.
Why would a customer want to sign with ATTWS, when those who work for the said company don't like it? 😲

you being an ex-customer just shows bias. 😈 There's a difference between i hate my service and i hate my job. I like working for the company. As far as my service goes it works everywhere i need it to and that like any customer is all that matters. I have A T 616 and this works like a champ. Any service is up to perception much like a brand. For example anyone here will tell you motorola isn't worth the box it comes in, but i hear customers everyday from ALL services shelling out hundreds for the latest ones. 🙄

Ok, in response to all this nonsense... Anyone who hates the job for AT&T Wireless, got one word for ya...LEAVE!

Simply put, we don't need non-motivated people anymore. We need PCOs, and we need happy customers. Too many of you aren't willing to help the customers with their problems; they want a credit because their mmode was charged and they didn't want it? Credit it!! They (management) tell us to do this, and way TOO many of you aren't willing to. This will not break the bank. Remember, if the customers don't stay, then we don't have the option of keeping our jobs anymore. It is all about the customers. They are the funding for our wallets; let's take care of them!

Remember, Own, Resolve, & Renew! Grow the business! Stan ...

How much did they pay you to say that. I'm sorry but we all have a right to be disatisfied and to bitch about it. You mention how much we need PCO's, did you ever think of it this way, if AT&T didn't do so much to piss its customers off it wouldnt need to lock them into 1 and 2 year contracts before they get mad. The only reason we need PCO's is because Cingular wont pay as much if we dont maintain a certain number of customers. That was laid out on the table in training for us at Convergys centers. And it may be true that Stan Stigman hasnt threatened jobs yet, ut he hasnt exactly made promises to keep them. All he's said is no one gets fired until the end of the year. And you can bet your ass for what it's worth that he's not going ...

I didn't get any "memo" and I totally agree w/ Chris. He took the words right out of my mouth...

Its ashame that whenever you say something positive about a company that others are complaining about that you must me a "corporate tool".

If you don't work for AT&T then your opinion holds no value in this discussion. Sorry if I sound mean, but true.

Not our fault we happen to like our jobs...maybe that because we don't half-ass like some other employees.

As a longtime ATT customer and as an employee of a corporation I must agree with noth of you and it shows with ATT CS. I have always been satisfied with CS and my hold times have not been bad at all. BUT..I have found recently i is difficult to get a CSR that truly cares about the company. The CS is not consistant. When I call I woould rather get someone who respects his company. It does go a long way to keep customers. I could not get good TDMA reception iin my home yet I stayed with ATT. You know why? Customer Service. I always knew when I called with an issue I would hang up content and so would the CS.

Lately I have had to make a few different calls. The information was not consistant. I went to an ATT store to buy a phone and renew ...

and to that i say yeah they should, It would probly fix alot of inconsistancy and that would make things better for everyone left. I will admit though I DO hate my job but not for the great beifits (which yeah I like and use ) or the hours (all nights which kinda sucks now but hey I asked for it so not complaing about that either) or the pay (which could be more but then hey it allways can be 😈 ) It is the sh*ty attitude that I feel the company expresses to its customers. Do you think that some people don't give that great phone deal or more mins for the same price because we don't want to? NO its because we're told we can't and if we do we're in sh*t. granted I do agree that this is a bussiness and out to make money (duh) but to...

Well with that being said I have a few rants myself . . .
first off WHY THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU DESERVE A FREE PHONE???? I hate hearing that, "I have been a customer for X yrs, I deserve a free phone" well I got news for ya NO, NO YOU DO NOT!!!! You bought a WIRELESS service from us (At&t) and we provide your first phone for free or at a discounted price as a COURTSEY to you. Do you call your cable company and say "Gee I have been with you for 10 yrs I think I deserve a free TV, a 42" plasma screen at that" NO YOU DONT!! SAME CONCEPT! You bought a wireless service, and you use and pay for that service, you should feel lucky that we even give you discounts at all!!
I am an AT&T grunt if you can't already tell. There are good and bad ...

You know...I have been shopping at the same grocery store company since I was a kid, and I think its about time I get some free DAMN groceries.

Am I ever going to get any? HELL NO...you PAY for a service we provide.

YOU PAY LOTS OF MONEY? WE MUST PROVIDE YOU A LOT OF FRIGGIN' SERVICE...

AT& loses lots of money on free and discounted phones...why can't you be happy with what we are offering you? You don't deserve a DISCOUNT EVERYTIME YOU COME INTO THE FRICKIN' STORE!

And if you have a problem breaking your phone or losing it...buy the damn INSURANCE!

I do agree, not everyone deserves discounts and free phones, but if they are nice people, and don't get pissy with me, they will get a good deal :-). It all depends on how you strike me. If you call me all pissed off and say you want a free damn phone, it isn't going to happen! And you will be paying the equipment upgrade fee and shipping! If you are a pleasant experience, and you have been with us for a while, and you have been inconvenienced by some type of misinformation, again, you will get a good deal :-).

BUT....

Still yet, too many employees are not on the company's side, and this is wrong. I am completely with ATTGUY in saying if you can't back the company you work for, GET THE HE** OUT! We don't need you!

Well the Carriers sell their service like car salesman. Everybody gets a different deal, Its the carriers that encourage this because they have to compete unlike cable companies where they sell the service at a specific price take it or leave it.

If it were up to me, I would get the Carriers out of the hardware business and use those lost funds to beef up the Service before and after the sale.
Let the retailers like Best Buy and Wal Mart compete oon selling the phones. buy the one you want and take ot to a carrier of your choice for activation. The carriers could offer a high minute plan or lower minute "phone subsidy" plan.

This is not like Cable TV which is a monopoly. Carriers compete. Let them compete with service and not free ph...

customers are actually trying to get equipment unlocked which works for the carriers as well. Not only would we not have to worry about customers equip and subsidizing we could lose OUR wex teams and cut costs. Straight to the manufacturer they go. And that puts an end to FREE PHONES

Bro I FEEL your pain. I was an ATTWS Salesperson for 4 years. Quit 9 months ago and am now working for a reseller making what I USED to make back in the "good ol days"...
