How do I go about dumping ATTWS and keeping my number with a new carrier after NOV 24th?

Thank you in advance for any insight.

you can only change if it is in the same market or if that carrier has service there. You have to cancel at the end of your billing cycle and you have to be out of contract then you call the company you want to switch to.

And you must be in one of the top 100 MSAs as defined by the 1990 and 2000 census.

Why not let us offer you something you might like? Why do you want to cancel? Please, go into detail. 🙂 I'm not going to shpeal 'we appreciate your business', but... 🙂

As well, you need to call the other carrier, you can be under contract with us, but you'll be forking the 175 dollars, as well as we WILL cancel your service immediately with us, but will charge for the entire bill cycle. 🙂

This is the same with all carriers, so no bashing us for being mean. 😛

If you wonna know why I am PO'ed check out my post "Renewed contract without consent what should I do?"

Thats why I am mad, I was actually fairly happy with my service and was most likely gonna keep ATTWS... but sorry after this no way.
I am currently in the process of getting this resolved with FCC... because customer service incapable of helping me. No offense to you but the way I was treated was beyond my belief... and VERY illegal. Thats why...

Yeah, I would be angry too if instead of a "free gift" ($75 value?), they gave me a free month of svc and extra mins. The extra mins you received have probably saved you tens if not hundreds of dollars since then. But hey, I would much rather have a free gift too. Maybe you should think of the FREE month and the extra FREE minutes as your "free gift" and get over it, sissy-boy.

Secondly, if you were going to stay with ATTWS anyway, what the hell is the problem with another couple of months? I am sure if you pressed the issue, someone would take back the benefit you received from the extra minutes, the monetary value of the free month of service and revert your contract back to the way that it was, but then you would be hit with charges (m...

i must say, nice way with words yoda, could not have said it better myself. we at care would probably revert all the offers he received, somebody he has talked has probably already looked at it, but the charge would b very great, we would rerate for every month he had the extra minutes, and 200 minutes at 40 cents a minute is 80.00, and then he has been on service for what, like 6 mths, thats 480.00, plus the one month svc. lets say hes one the 39.99 plan, then he would owe us 519.99. but see people dont realize that 200 extra minutes on your plan is better then money or 75.00 in free gifts, its worht more. 200 minutes extra over one year is the equivalant of 960.00 in credits. but that doesnt seem to matter, and if the fcc actually does...

PLEASE rerate me. I have gotten an extra 35 anytime minutes to my 600 month since jan. I haven't even used 500 of those minutes in a month since then. The free month equated to 46 bucks. YES, I would gladly pay 46 bucks back(thats 39.99 plus tax)... but they are not intrested at attws. Why do I want out now... well they have pissed me off and now i wonna switch... will i be treated better with someone else... i obviously hope so... i was happy with another major carrier for 5 years... I switched from them because of coverage where I currently live... in a month i move back. You say two months I say alot of money, why? carriers will be willing to deal NOW because of portability... perhaps they will not be willing to deal after the first of th...

All this about secretly renewing contracts and saying its in the best interest of the customer is a load of garbage. Any decent carrier would let you change your rate plan to fit your phone usage WITHOUT renewing contracts(as long as you don't go into a different promotion, and as long as it isn't a grandfathered plan, mind you), and would do it when you called, and would do it without sneaking some months behind your back and giving you a cheap little gift as a customer-service-opiate. I see nothing but cheap little tactics to sucker people into more months, then claim they're doing them a favor by "upping" their plan and saving them on overages. Big freakin' deal. That's not customer service, that's called "bait and switch", and any co...

Heeey dude, thats business for you. Name me a very large company that doesn't have some sort of tactics for saving money and increasing profit. :/

AT&T Wireless is not the only company to extend ones contract for accepting promotions that actually do save you money really in the end. its either you stay with us a little longer, or pay overage fees... we at Care hope you like AT&T Wireless's service enough not to need worry about the contracts which are basically gaurantees you won't just run off after we give you that $75 dollar credit.

ANY company that gives away money does it with the gaurantee of some sort that there would be some profit in what they offered that for! I mean, you could be out of contract, have a 100 dollar bill, get...

That is not true. You can change your plan at anytime with ATTWS and not renew your contract. All you have to do is not take the promos that are going on, or change to a plan that offer the same promos that you have. We do it all the time.
