Why is it that customers feel that they need to yell at me to get what they want?

I just got a call from a customer who was in one of our stores. She has EWL which carries a $5 shipping fee. We, in warranty, are not permitted to waive this insurance fee for any reason.

When the rep got me on the line, the customer launched into this whole song and dance that she was told by tech support that we would ship her out a phone at no charge. I told her that unfortunately, the advanced exchange service carries a shipping charge.

After I told her this and gave her all of her options, she yelled that she will NOT pay this fee and that her $5.00 a month guaranteed that her phone would be exchanged for no charge. I told her that CEC would ...

yeah, listening to them yell is actually quite halarious. Someone calls in and starts screaming. I usually just put the phone on mute and listen to them go on. Whats even funnier is the fact that you can not pay attention to them for 10-15 mins and still undersand them.
Then at the end of the call when you credit back the .29 cent late fee there all like "im sorry i yelled at you but i was really frustrated, i wouldnt want your job" What are some good answers to that? ☚ī¸

Heh... I used the restaurent analogy with one person.

I explained in nice terms that him not wanting to pay his overages, is like going to a buffet restaurent, paying to eat at the buffet, and then ordering a seperate dessert or menu item afterwards. You ate the damned thing, your going to fu( |< ing pay for it.

They should do a reality TV show in our call center. It would be the next biggest hit. People would find it halarious, at least us canadians would. People arguing over anything

I had a woman lose her mind o me cause i wouldnt take a cash payment over the phone. I didnt know how to answer that, she asked for a supervisor so to de-escalate it i asked "how am i supposed to give you your change?"

Click. 😕

Tell her to go to a PAY phone. Let's see her stand there trying to dump in $42 in quarters. Now that would make a fun video. Can we arrange that in one of the stores? Or how about the pay stations in Vegas that have the three spinning fruit wheels?

I just finished with a customer who was upset because the mMode option was on her son's soft key in standby and the phone doesn't give the option to change it. She was demanding a replacment, even after I informed her the replacement would also have the same set up. She finally just gave up after I told her we could not process an exchange under the impression that she had a defective phone because...THERE'S NO DEFECT CAUSING YOUR SON TO PUSH BUTTONS!!!

Taking alook at the way our Canadian education system is headed, I would say it's because of them diverting funds into other areas. like oh say.... enforcing the american political system on other countries?

(sorry, don't mean to offend anyone with that statement, but I do not agree with the foreign policy of the USA.)

Don't sweat it, there are millions of Americans who don't agree with our country's foreign policy--mostly because it sucks hairy donkey balls... I'm pretty sure the US Government can afford to aducate, and I think it puts more than enough money in it. the primary (though not only) problem is that we have horrendous teachers (often kept in place by purely self-interested teachers' unions) and often idiotic local school policies in many of our schools.

There's plenty of money and plenty of good teachers to educate children. Schools just need to focus more on academics and less on other topics that have nothing to do with education.

Sports would be a nice chunk to cut out of schools. Let s...

Unless you hold it's head underwater... then it's probably considered drowning, although you do get your objective done of getting it to "drink" in a way.

true, but it seems like most teachers and schools nowadays have the attitude of pointing in a random direction and telling that horse, "The water's somewhere over there, I'll be sitting here collecting a paycheck while you go look."

The sad fact of education is that every single thing we require for high school graduation can be taught to a motivated student in about 100 hours of instruction. The rest is pretty much babysitting and socialization. Ask yourself why it's costing so much to impart 100 hours worth of instruction spread over 12 years and then ask why college tuition (where you're actually learning something useful and new) is so effin' high. Then make sure you're not on top of a tall building and have a trusted friend remove the bullets from your gun, because you'll be a little depressed afterward... 😈
