Question on upgrading to cingular?????

I was wondering if anybody knows if you have the At&t contract that doesn't expire until next year DEC and you want to switch over to cingular. To get a new phone or to be on one of their calling plans would you have to pay the full purchase price of the phone? or would you get treated like a new customer with a discount price? Also would you even be charged an early termination fee if I wanted to sign up with an cingular family plan??

the way that its works is this to get any discounts on the phone You must renew for a minimum of 1 year on a new current cingular plan and there is no ETF on the "legacy" package through your old AWS provider.

You get a better discount of course with a 2 year renewal.there is a 18.00 upgrade fee you MUST pay when getting switched over to the new cingular plan and activation of your new phone. There is no credit for it and also no way to avoid it.

Cingular does not web match like AWS used to ,they provide you a discount with 1 or 2 year, thats it.

And if you have a GSM service on the "legacy" AWS, there is no buyers remorse, the 30 days means that you then have your contract reverted to what the end date was on your expired ATT Wirel...

Plus if you chose a phone that is not a free one then you pay for that up front and the taxes you are not billed like attws would do thats the reason customer care asks for a credit card

debit is right, though if you are an elligible business customer the 18.00 fee is waived, any service discounts that you have as an elligible business client will apply to the MSC only, the equip discount is applied to either the 1 or 2 year price point(your choice) and whatever mail in rebates there are are also availible to you as well. cingular wanting to take the sting out of buying a new phone, I guess.

so I wouldn't be charged an early termination fee and can get the discount phone price but still pay an 18.00 activation fee correct? My contract for AT&t would expire 2005 of Dec thanks..

assuming that you can MIGRATE from aws to cw (this means that you aren't in a divestiture market) and you aren't a business customer(or a customer who has been flagged as a business account for some mysterious reason)then you just truck on down to your local Cingular retail location and get the person behind the counter to hook you up. If there are any problems the migration won't go through and the rep @ the store will call the migration teams to sort you out. If that happens, anticipate a 10-15 minute phone call, some questions regarding complete social security and driver's liscence numbers, date of birth etc as well as what sort of phone/rate plan/contract you want and then the migration rep will set expectations for getting the phone sh...
