I'm HVC dual skilled, and have gotten it several times in the past several weeks.

None this past week, however.

Undertime is a slimy load of anus juice. People who show up for work to do their underpaid job should not be sent home because calls are slow.

The reason why undertime/AWOP came about is because the company is paying you to sit there an do nothing. As such the company is losing money. Irregardless of what you think about, it is a good policy to allow employees to go home early. Perhaps the one reason that undertime was not really given out this past week is simply because of all the 4 hour training that was going on and will continue to go on. I dont know if Cingular has policy in place for this, so you might as well get used to not getting undertime. 🙂

so a quick question about this undertime stuff....If it's slow and reps are sent home is it their decision to leave or are they just told to go home?

The way it works is that you come in and sign up for UT (undertime). The earlier you sign up, the better because it is done on a "first to sign up, the first to get it" basis....most often. So it's not a "you need to go home now" type thing. It's totally voluntary.

They base on the national ops center for ATTWS. If they forcast that they have more reps than calls coming in, then they start letting people go.

This was about a year or so ago, but I sat down at my desk at 6:25am, signed up for UT, and then got an email at 6:30am saying I could go home!!! I was in shock. Loved the day off, but didn't like the hit in the pocket book. This happened like 2 or 3 times during the week.

There have also been times where I've signed up...

At Cingular it all depends on Accessibility for the Call Center... We could be Slow like the past few days and not get the option to leave because of accessibility... No doubt this is probably the policy that will be adopted.

im in anaheim hills, california call center, and we dont have to sign up for UT, by lunch time Ops reps are at my desk with a list asking me if I want to go home, at our center its based on Time you are scheduled to leave and then seniority, if you have vacation or a floating holiday you can take off AND get paid! Otherwise you leave early with no pay, but it IS entirely if you WANT to leave. It came in handy last week when I was very sick, but had no sick time, I was asked every night ATLEAST 4 hrs before shift was up if I wanted to go home.

Hmm. I'm in anaheim hills too.. you must be sst right? they're really iffy about letting the tenured reps go. *groan* they're all super clingy and NOOOO DONT LEEEEAVE! - style. It's okay but sometimes I wish I was sst! Go home early, no major bad issues/calls to deal with. Lucky, but they get trained as full service shortly after admittance but -shrug- whatever! lol 🙂

>>> First of all they give you the OPTION to take undertime, you don't have to accept it. If you want to sit there and do nothing then go for it! If you want to go home then you can do that too, but they won't FORCE you to go home early, that's making altering your livelihood which is illegal. The choice is yours, stay or go home and sleep. If calls are so.. I'll take sleep! 😁

hvc is not dual skilled
taking 2g and 3g calls is dual skilled, I do not know of a person that has gotten DUAL SKILLED undertime this whole friggin year, they let all the 2g people go knowing us dual screwed reps will cover for them, we did not ask to be moved to this different position and we do not get any extra money for it.

They have NEVER in the 2.5 yrs i've been here asked anyone to go home early. Unless they were being fired 😉 Even the past few weeks with a lot of reps waiting for calls. Never been asked to go home early. Would it be centre specific? Because I would think it would apply for the whole company and not just a centre.

When is your shift?

I'm 6-3, so I usually get in here early enough to be one the first ones signed up. And it's usually our shifts that get to go home first.

Just a thought..
