Reception VIA AT&T

I see the commercials AT&T have about the signal bars
and they show all of them, well I have never had all of the bars I average 3 bars.

I'm in Watertown, Mass. in the metropolitan area of Boston
and one would think being in the top 200 areas in the country it wouldn't be that way.

A couple of weeks ago I went two days of 2 bar s or "no service", wich is what the phone read, that or emergency only.
Now with the merger it hasn't gotten bettter, last night I had to change manually over to Cingular to make a call.

I'm wondering if Cingular is going to keep it that way or
make it worse to force subscribers to dump contracts and change over to a cingular phone making $$$ in the process.

I have to agree with that too!!! 99.5% of the time it's a power cycle issue, and the other 1.5% it's someone hasn't made sure that the ESN ((....sorry STILL TDMA)) has mapped over from our system to the HLR.

The problem is that no one seems to be able to read the print at the bottom of 1) the TV screen, 2) printed advertisements. What is said is SERVICE VARIES........come on, your basically picking up nothing more than a frigging radio signal. Granted I understand that there are major differences between radio and cell phone service, but think about it! The vast majority of wireless providers use cell towers not satellites. I do not know how people got to thinking that satellites are used. For one you would wind up paying a hell of a lot more for your service than you already do. Besides all you really need to have for decent service is 3 bars! Don't stress yourself over not having all the signal strength bars. Also wireless providers really can...

It appears that Cingular is updating the towers all over. People who in the last 6 months have had good reception has seen a dwindle reception with plenty dropped calls.

This issue started to appear during the last week specially in major cities.

Just be patient.

That doesn't seem to help, I sut it off and recharge at bedtime, and I have tried shutting it off during the day and restarting it.

I've also manually changed networks to find Cingular running great then back to AT&T and 2-3 bars.

The easiest way to counter this is to have your phone set to automatic network selection. That way, with no roaming in USA on GSM America National, it will attach to the carrier with the strongest signal strength.
