Cingular Purchase
WASHINGTON -- The Justice Department and Federal Communications Commission are getting close to approving Cingular Wireless' $41 billion buyout of AT&T Wireless Services Inc. (AWE), creating the nation's largest cellphone company, Tuesday's Wall Street Journal reported.
To address concerns about competition, the agencies are expected to require the companies to sell cellular businesses or spectrum in as many as two dozen geographic markets where their services overlap, according to people familiar with the reviews.
