I don't know if you've already made a decision regarding your contract with SunCom, but being an authorized dealer I'll weigh in.

If you have an older taxes and fees included plan, especially the $69 UnPlan, then hang on to it as long as you can for as long as you're happy with the service. To lock in that plan you must be in contract. When you are month to month they can (and will) move you off a less advantageous plan for them. And if you want to lock in, you might as well take a discount on a new phone.

However, if you are on any other set of plans from SunCom, don't go back in contract. Buy a phone straight out and stay with them as long as you care to. There is no reason to be in contract when there are comparable plans with every other company.

I'm biased about those taxes and fees included plans and I wish they'd come back. Made my job a lot easier selling the plans
