If SunCom is so great then what's going on?

From what I hear SunCom isn't doing that great. People swear the company is wonderful and such a trend setter but I don't think so. If you get SunCom don't plan to travel or even step outside of a 2 foot circle of coverage because the phone will not work.

And where is all the management going? I heard that several VIPs have jumped ship! Not a good sign. Same thing happened with AT&T i hear when Cingular was putting the moves on them. 🤣

Dude, get a life. Suncom is just like any other regional carrier on this forum. Its a GSM carrier that happens to share networks with other GSM carriers. How hard is it for you to figure that out.

SunCom is facing growth problems and the management isn't very good.

I think they should go chapter 11 and then be bought out for 10 cents on the dollar.

also something to keep in mind is that cingular will not be extending there roaming contract with them.

that means that soon when your SUNCOM phone said cingy its going to say OUT OF SERVICE.

i can see there coverage map now. oh wait what coverage

I find it hard to believe Suncom will lose any coverage......

Well, if they have roaming deals to enhance their native coverage and if they lose those roaming deals that would mean that, they would lose coverage.

Many things are going wrong with the company; bad liquidity, bad balance sheet and bad metrics. Their management is horrible. They might as well go chapter 11 now and then be bought out for 10 cents on the dollar.

That doesn't seem to make any sense.

First off, the contract has another 5 years to go, so it seems unlikely that any decision of that nature would be made now.

Secondly, why would Cingular turn away all the roaming revenue they generate from SunCom's customers roaming on their network?

Thirdly, doesn't SunCom also roam with TMobile?

not all markets fall under one contract and yes they do roam with T mobile but t-mobile does not have towers in NC suncoms coremarket

each market has its one contract. why would cingular do that. so nthey lose money of the roaming deal. whats it worth to shut down A GSM carrier

which would happen if they lose the NC roaming agreement

i know cingular is turning down suncom access to their customers becuase we've added 100 or so towers... so cingular customer impact will be very minimal.

I believe this was a two-way street. SunCom and Cingular both had built a bunch of new towers and terminated roaming agreements for specific towers. It seems that some customers of both companies were affected because the towers did not always overlap perfectly. My understanding is they are both working on getting access to each others towers in the affected areas again, but as with anything in dealing with corporations, this takes a while.
