I've got to say I really like it, it's easily the best phone Verizon has. Here are some attributes:

- Tri-mode: I live in Boston, but I'd hate to be on a highway somewhere and lost with the VX6000, and there still is analog in a lot of places.

- Good menu system: took me a little bit to get used to, but now it's pretty intuitive.

- External LCD: Good and bad. It keeps flashing back and forth between the date/time and "Verizon Wireless", no way to change this. Not color. Can work as a viewfiner for the camera in monochrome, which is pretty cool.

- Ringers: The ringer quality is excellent, though the built-in ringers aren't very good. But that's what Get It Now is for.

- Camera: OK quality... for the most part, I just trans...

The speakerphone (one of the main reasons I bought the phone) sucked. UNLESS - you are in a nice, quiet room. I had no problems with it holding signal or dropped calls although it has a very low audio and I felt like I had to hold it against my ear with a vice to hear. Camera was OK - w/o flash - it limits things greatly. I am back to using my StarTAC 7868 - at least I hear who I am talking to. I guess I will wait for the 810 ??

So the StarTac 7868 has a duplex speaker phone?

I may get this phone because of tri mode... I am preatty sure that they might upgrade the phone firmware and fix it..

I was browsing the FCC generic search thing, and I saw a version of the Audivox 8900 that Sprint Will be coming out with that has a Attachable Flash, it plus into the 2.5mm headset jack. I wonder if it will work on the Verizon Model.

Nope, I just got word on it too.. It was asked that the store "Quarantine" the Kyocera 7135 dude to a battery issue, and also "Quarantine" the new Audiovox 8900 untill further notice.

No word on why they issued it for the 8900 though. all they are doing is removing them from the shelf, and placing them in the storage room till whatever issue with the phones have been resolved..

Was in my local store just after lunch today, they told me the 8900 was pulled because of LNP porting issues. New users selecting this phone were encountering some sort of service issues or interuptions. Not sure this makes sense, but this is what the techs told me.

The 8900 was pulled because of software issues. It had an overlaping display, and apparently there were problems with the mobile web, brew, and MMS. There is a software flash that has been approved and the phones should be back out on the floor very shortly. The phone performs well though. I have it and have not had any problems what so ever

Verizon1,

Do you know if there will be any way to get the outer display to stop switching between the date/time or CID and "Verizon Wireless"? The most annoying thing about the phone is that when a call comes in, it displays the CID, then switches to "Verizon Wireless", so you can't see who's calling.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah. I know its horrible, but as far as I know, there no way to change it, which is annoying. But what can you do... 🙂

I think that is one of the reason it was just recently pulled of the shelf.. Their should be a software update soon to correct it.
