* Cingular*
I'm so glad I stuck it out with verizon they really are the power house of the cell phone industry.
Can you use your phones overseas?
Do you have high speed everywhere?
Did Vzw drop the standard UI on their phones?
Can you talk and use data at the same time on your phones?
Do your phones have SIM cards now?
Shoe! I can go on and on. Don't come to conclusions too soon. Your phones are decent, not better.

90% of customers don't ask me if the phone has the bluetooth lock. they just wnt to use it for call.

yes..the global phones have sim card..if they want sim cards..there are phones that have it..however, most consumers don't care about it.
That's because most tech savvy people own GSM phones.

All could make a phone call! Did they have ev-do? NO. Did I have Edge? Yes.
"most EDGE networks are only configured to allow up to 135 Kbps,"

"
1xRTT also offers much faster data speeds. The initial release - release 0 (zero) - supports data speeds peaking at 144 kbps"
hmmmmm EDGE competes with 1xRTT and neither cant touch EV-DO with a 10 foot pole,
excludin the analog network(which is very small) everything is pretty much 1xRTT. so that seems about right.
and with verizon phones you can make a clear call with 1 or 2 bars, it just takes a little bit longer to connect unlike gsm that ...

HSPDA and EVDO are classified as broadband.
That's why EDGE is classified as high-speed.

1xRTT also offers much faster data speeds. The initial release - release 0 (zero) - supports data speeds peaking at 144 kbps. Typical real-world speeds are closer to 60-80 kbps.
https://www.phonescoop.com/glossary/term.php?gid=150 »
Again, that is why it is classified as high-speed and 1xRTT is not, although that may not be what we experience in the real world on a regular basis.
I know that EDGE networks aren't configured to be capped at 135kbps anymore, and how fast your speeds are depend on the equipment you are using. There are 12 classes of EDGE that a device can support, 12 being the fastest.
Exactly how fast real world speeds are for each depends greatly on a number of factors. On average EDGE will run significantly faster though.
You better go Anxio, I think I hear Stan Sigman calling and he needs his at&t poster biatch by his side, can't believe that Cingular is robbing their customers of a few billion in network upgrade money to rebrand again to at&t, what a freakin joke.

Why is that even being stated? Cingular is taking the hit on branding, not the customer. Sure, maybe the customer will feel the affects of it here and there in pricing, but for the most part they won't. Cingular is that last company to be robbing their customers of a few billion in network upgrade money...as we all know they put the most into their network.

nope, if your primary concern is being able to transfer files with bluetooth then go elsewhere, 98% of cell users dont care.
in CDMA countrys yep, and with a global phone you can use in both CDMA/GSM countrys. Can your phones work in CDMA countrys?

Cingular offers little proof that they have the "fewest dropped calls."
Check out this news article in which they examined Cingular's misleading claim.
http://www.boston.com/business/articles/2006/04/23/t ... »
Verizon bases its reliability claims on its own testing, supposedly available at its website. But a detailed breakdown of the tests isn't provided, there's no information on Boston, and what little is available on four other markets dates to 2003.
when sprint says they have the most powerful network there is tons of uproar and disagreement in articles, they are sued by Cingular, etc.
when verizon says they have the most reliable nationwide wireless network, there is very little disagreement. People know verizon has an extremely high quality voice and data network, and they are consistantly ranked number one in network performance by CR/JDPower.
and more imporantly then all, Verizon Wireless leads the industry every quarter ...

Cingular says they have the fewest dropped calls. Sprint calls bullshnit and reports it to the BBB. Cingular in turn bypasses the BBB and countersues Sprint.
But you clearly didn't read the follow up.
The BBB hands Sprint the dunce cap, removes their right to claim they have the most powerful network and gives Cingular the right away to advertise:
The largest all-digital network in America.
The the fastest nationwide data network.
The largest push-to-talk network in America.
More bars in more places.
and
Fewest dropped calls.
So, I'd say that's pretty undisputed now.
And as far as churn goes, yes Verizon's is very low. Cingular's is rather low too. Se...

you dont see articles about verizon's false advertisements in newspapers, just a paragraph in an article about cingular.
Verizon has far less "credibility issues" because most people(cingular network tech's aside) dont doubt the claims made by verizon, as they know VZW's network is top notch.
also the IN txt bundles are not unlimited they are unlimited IN, with a set limit on out of network messages.

But surely anybody with Verizon has all of their friends switched over to be IN already since everybody knows how great Verizon is.
That would seem pretty unlimited to me.
Wait...Midnight! Are you telling me that there are people who don't use Verizon's top notch service?! 😲
must be getting desperate.
But you say that most people know that Verizon's network is top notch. If all the people you speak of really agreed that was true, then most people would be texting within the rest of the people that had Verizon. Which should be just as good as unlimited.
But you see, not everybody thinks that's true.
everyone has their own reason to be with whatever company they want. my statements remain true and im not going to keep reiterating them.
"Fewest dropped calls" is an inaccurate measurement. All that means is: if you can actually MAKE a call, Cingular has the fewest dropped calls.
Now, all things being equal, which carrier actually connects you to the other party the most AND does not drop the call? I would say Verizon is the winner.
define use data, you can txt/pix while you are on the phone. I havnet tried to do other stuff becuase really why would i need to?
and yes you can i do all the time
and to answer
i have conference calls for work that sometimes last 2 or more hours and can start at 7 am, these calls can be very boring and i fall asleep sometimes, if i can do that then i may keep myself awake
In the past year I have traveled extensively. My cingular phone worked in many other countries for $5 additional per month.
I was a Verizon customer for 8 years prior. To be honest I haven't noticed a difference in network availability.
Where I live and travel they are both compatible.
There are special cases (locations) and those people need to get the carrier that covers their area.
I hate all this arguing about dropped calls and network coverage. They are similar. They are also different.
I also hate these companies equally....

🤣 Anxiovert - Stop crying and get a life. This is a VZW forum. Cingular blows donkey balls.
High speed is available everywhere I need it and that is what counts... as long as it works for you (customer) then that is all that matters...
UI:
The new phones have a new customizable flash UI starting with the LG 8300 (GREAT PHONE)...
SIM cards:
Verizon does not have SIMs but can now backup all your data on their servers for free
Simultaneous data/voice:
Cant now but it will probably be sooner than Cingular is able to do that... I personally dont see why you'd wanna be surfing the web and talking at the same time though
PHONE LINEUP:
LG chocolate, Motorola RAZR K, LG 8300, LG 9800 (V), Samsung A990...and soon the LG (V2)...
These are some of the BEST phone in the country IMO

well seems you have come to some conclusions yourself!
1.think about it most people in the us want things to be sinply when they change products so a simplied ui is better for the customer. There will always be people unhappy but with keeping some thing the same like the ui more people are happy so this claim has no standing.

Saying “Verizon is a powerhouse in this industry” isn’t very true
How is Verizon not a powerhouse? Cingular and Veizon are the two main powerhouses in the cellular business.
If they (Verizon) was a powerhouse they would control everything in the industry from net ads including both prepaid and post, to data, to arpu, churn, lifetime revenue per user etc.. but they don’t. They only lead in prepaid net ads and churn. They are too ashamed to mention what they have for their EV-DO regarding total net ads per quarter and total on their customer base, even though I know what it is.

FYI, Verizon isnt a powerhouse, becuase they really only have a few things going for them; 1. very good network 2. great churn and 3. great total net adds.
they lack in; data, prepaid, total net adds.
verizon isn't number one in overall subscribers cingy is but vzw is on pace to pass cingy up soon,
how can you just dismiss jd power and consumer reports, cr was a poll of 50,000 people and jc was 23,000
the larger poll ranked verizon #1 across the nation and the smaller poll ranked them tied for 1st
wireless weekly also named vzw carrier of the year
you show me a substancial poll by a reputable source that doesn't rate vzw at or near the top then you can legitimatly say that they're not a pow...

I agree 100% that both Verizon and Cingular are powerhouses. You certainly do not have to be number one in all aspects to be a powerhouse.
But the above statement struck me. I honestly do not believe that to be true. Net additions have steadily become rather tight between the two companies and Cingular still leads with a 3 million customer gap. Verizon may very well indeed pull ahead in total subscribers...but I wouldn't say "soon" in any respect.
if something is a policy they are a dominant force in the industry or world. (meaning they have the assets and other things to prove it)
GE, XOM, WMT, Qcom, TXN etc.. are a few examples.

Come on Nextel seriously..this is not your first day here these threads will always exist. this thread actually has some merit verizon has lag behind terribly in the phone category, a little playful rivalry is not hurting anyone.
Actually Army, threads like these do hurt people, the customers who end up showing blind loyalty to any carrier. I am a Verizon customer because that is what is best for me at the present time. Verizon will only look out for their interests so I must look out for mine. As such, I would dump Verizon in a heartbeat if the entire package of service (price, coverage in the areas I need it, handset selection etc.) ends up being better for me with another carrier.

And on a second note being a fan of your favorite football team is ok, but not your favorite wireless carrier? boo on that! I disagree with all your statements, you are not the final word on what ppl are entitled to be a fan of.
You will learn however that a business relationship is two parties each working rationally for their own best interest. That doesn't mean that someone will get screwed, the best business relationships end up as a "win/win" for both parties.
However, if you enter a business relationship as a "fan" and do not approach it rationally, you are sure to come out on the short end of the stick if.

GSM does cause increased brain activity on the side of the brain that the phone is nearest. It's yet to be determined if it actually has any negative effect. It would be pretty funny to see GSM suddenly declared unsafe.
Actually, the increased brain activity is a good thing. It's the brain at work thinking about all the possibilities of using a phone that hasn't been crippled by the carrier.

you verizon peeps are all excited over your lg 8300 I mean good grief its just an update to an old phone thats been on the shelf for over two years!!!!!!!!!!!!
🙄 🤣 silly kids!!!
verizon razr, can't hold a candle to the SPRINT BLADE
LG 8300 🤣 Have you seen the FUSIC PHONE!!!. thats what I have and makes any verizon phone look sub par.
So what else do you have to look forward too, your LG 8300 specs in a Choco slider LOL have fun!!
O SPRINT Power vision so blows verizon away
My phone can have all the bells and whistles in the world, but if I can't use my phone as a phone, it's worthless.
Sprint has decent coverage when it's roaming, but then you don't have access to a lot of the data that makes the company worthwhile. Also, not all of the plans have included roaming.
Time will tell if the people truly love the phone like MOST [self included] "absolutely love" their LG 8300.
There's room for more than one beloved phone by LG.
If you're w/ Verizon, go w/ the LG VX-8300
(or maybe the A-900 ... time will tell)
If your w/ Sprint, continue to love your Fusic LX-550.
They're BOTH incredible phones depending on if you're with the KING Werizon or if your with someone else, like say... Sprint? I had to rib you at least a little bit. Enjoy the weekend [and enjoy our differences on whose the best provider / network]. If everybody loved the same EXACT SAME thing(s), what a boring pl...
