Verizon or Sprint
(continues)
There is a reason Verizon has way more customers than Sprint. Your data may be unlimited with sprint but if it sucks, is that really better?
Also, may want to ask the Sprint Forum if you want to be sold on Sprint.
Ting is a mobile reseller that runs off the Sprint network. When I considered dumping VZW last December, so I bought a $50 refurb handset from Ting to test drive the Sprint network in my area and see if it would provide acceptable service for me.
In my community, Sprint works fine (better actually, in some large buildings at the University where I spent way too many hours) and would have been much, much cheaper than VZW. The only reason I haven't made the jump to Sprint is that I just accepted a career-level job from AT&T, so I'll be going that route instead, most likely.
I am not sure if this helps but I too am thinking of jumping to Sprint for their unlimited data and I currently have unlimited data with VZW but my phone is acting up so I may need a new one. I live in Los Angeles and some of my friends are having no problems with Sprint. What has come to my attention with VZW is that they plan on moving their voice systems over to data. Meaning the call feature will run on the data line and no longer on a voice line. To me this means that anyone without unlimited data is going to have to up their GB and spend more money in order to incorporate the call side of the phone. I am completely speculating on how this will work but it seems in my tiny mind to make sense, if the calls are on the data ...

Sprint Truly unlimited everything (well unlimited data and messaging if on their smaller Native Network as it doesn't include their roaming partners) is $209
If you can live with 1500 minutes you are looking at $150
You use 4GB...
Verizon would be unlimited talk and text and 6GB (including their roaming partners... so entire network) You would be looking $160
8GB $170
Maybe I am missing something, but doesn't seem that much cheaper. Also if the wife is switching jobs.... make sure you check and see if there are any discounts available through the carriers.
Sprints Plan 2 smartphones is $150.00 with the only limited item is landline calling min at 1500
Now 8GB for two phones should be plenty, my son on a moto xpert goes through 2GB alone. thats by no means a real high powered smart phone.
