I really need a phone today

ondisplay

Jun 24, 2013, 12:36 PM
Long time VZW customer and have never even considered switching till now. I am out of contract and my phone is completely shot. I love the Samsung Charge that I have been using for almost two years but it is no longer functioning.

Like a lot of people I would really like to stay but I do not want to give up my unlimited data, I use about 5-6 GBs per month.

Any suggestions? I really need a functional phone with in the next day or so.

You wanted to keep your unlimited data. Otherwise, Verizon has more save offers now than I've seen in years. They're simply not interested in helping you keep the unlimited data.

Your options are used phone, full retail, or installment plan (full retail with financing).

Yes. Be disappointed, but don't be surprised. Verizon doesn't care if the lose your business. In fact, each customer they lose over unlimited data is a minor victory. Of course, convincing you to stay and give up unlimited data is a greater victory. Bottom line: Unlimited Data is the enemy. They want it gone at any cost.

The mere fact that you have to take someone off-site to tell them something means you're either full of it, or looking to make a buck.

Not talking to the right person? Riiiiiight....

you must be new here. epik knows his stuff. I'd say he probably knows every trick in the book.

So what is your secret to keeping unlimited data, kid? I guarantee you its most likely very shady and benefits your company much more than the customer. Prove me wrong.

I love all the skepticism here... I am not asking for any business nor have I solicited anything.. Depending on how the account is set up there are SEVERAL OPTIONS. I am sure EPIK knows his stuff but obviously he doesn't know everything.. I have been in the VZW corner for 10 yrs and this is something that isn't just my secret but many know about it but IT IS NOT ADVERTISED.. IT IS NOT ADVERTISED FOR A REASON... VZW doesn't WANT YOU TO KEEP UNLIMITED BUT IF YOU KNOW YOUR OPTIONS there are ways around it.. again grab me on twitter @phoneman07 and I can go over each instance on a case by case basis.. Nothing shady and by talking to me you are not obligated to use my options!!! so Mr. SupremeSound I apologize for knowing more about ...

You really think VZW doesn't know what you know? It's not hard to figure out how to keep it, and just because you don't post it on here doesn't mean VZW won't change policy, they've already started "fixing the loophole" by not letting you do alternate upgrades on non-phone lines. They will eventually stop all of it. Get over yourself.

Here's his big secret: Do the upgrade/alternate upgrade on a line that doesn't have unlimited and then do an ESN change.

Example: Account has 2 lines, Line A: smartphone w/ unlimited, Line B: smartphone w/ 2gb data. Line A has an upgrade. You do an alternate upgrade on Line A, putting the contract on Line A and the new phone on Line B. Then, on a separate transaction, you go back and remov...

Most people i know in the business have been doing this for a while now. Ghost lines are also a way to keep unlimited.

I just wanted to see if Mr. PhoneMan07 actually had anything to say other than follow me on twitter and i'll tell you the secret

Just as you find the skepticism here amusing, I also find it amusing that anyone here feels they know exactly what I do and do not know.

My track record on here is extensive. Yours?

a ton of people on here who think they know what they are talking about 🙂... got news for everybody PHONEMAN07 is right...

I work for VZW and you CAN keep your unlimited data. it works best if you have multiple lines but there are several ways to do upgrades and still be able to keep your data you just have to get the rep who is willing to do it for you

don't let them get you down phoneman07... I know what you are saying

Phone man IS correct. If one has multiple lines and one is a dumbphone. One CAN keep one's unlimited data plan until Verizon drops the hammer and bans unlimited data altogether.

A) Phoneman didn't say that....unless you followed him on twitter and asked him.....but again anyone who knows what they are doing knew the "trick" already.

B) One of your lines doesn't have to be a dumbphone, it can be any PHONE, just can't have unlimited data on it. (unless you want to lose it on that line)

Did I say somewhere that your example was wrong?

A) If he has information above and beyond the obvious, he's foolish for flaunting his knowledge of it.

B) If he's just giving us a line and actually doesn't know anything above and beyond the obvious, he's a fool for playing a field he isn't equipped to play on.

Look, there are at least six ways to keep unlimited data as I see it, and if I can see it I'm sure it's fairly well-documented online. If nothing else, Verizon is sure to be aware of it. Why flaunt such knowledge as some secret you've been make privy to when there's no point in doing so?

Hey, guess what! I know how to avoid a upgrade fee!

Don't buy a phone!
