So since I been out of work, I was unable to pay my cellphone bill. They disconnected my account which is understandable. Does that mean I lose my cellphone number that I've had since I was able to have a cellphone (Talking being with Cingular wireless)?

Thanks

I'm sorry to hear your work troubles it's tough out there. I believe your number is gone forever, there's no way to retain it. Keep your head up! 🙂

If it's just suspended, you can port the cellular number out to Google Voice for something like $20, I think. That way, you can keep the number forever. Google Voice doesn't have any monthly fees, so they will never throw you under the bus when times get hard.

It's so incredibly simple, the observation that you're even asking the question is evidence that you haven't even tried. That's a little insulting.

Go to voice.google.com and follow the instructions. One of the first things it will ask you is whether or not you want to port your number in.

If you get the Google VoiceMail box set up and you still can't figure out the port process, come back and tell me what you're seeing.

You were incredibly generous with your statement. I would have simply said, "GOOGLE IT."

Why would you want to? Now that your number is in GV, when you get a new phone forward your GV number to it. That way if you want to switch carriers you just forward it to the new carriers number.

When Google Voice tries to call you to verify who you are, since my account's been disconnected it cannot call me to verify, therefore I think I've lost my number for good.
