Question about transferring upgrade eligibility

Victek

I have a family plan with two lines. The primary line is eligible for a discounted upgrade at the end of December while the secondary line is already eligible. I plan to transfer the eligibility from the second line to the primary so I can upgrade now. My question is what happens to the upgrade discount on the primary line? Does it transfer to the second line? Also, might the NE2 discount still exist on the primary line, and if so is there a way to find out online? TIA

Verizon uses the word "transfer" in such a way that it often gets confused at the consumer end.

If line B has an upgrade, and line A wants a new phone, line A gets the new phone while line B gets the new contract agreement. Whatever pricing line B was eligible for is taken advantage of when line A gets the new phone.

If you do this via My Verizon it actually does transfer the upgrade or basically switches them. It is that simple. In fact, once you transfer your upgrade to a line it actually shows the upgrade dates reversed before you proceed.

But I believe it's just for your eyes sake. If you back out they don't stay reversed. It's just showing you that to make it easier to understand, but in reality it's all being done systematically behind the scenes without moving any dates.

Exactly. Nothing is really transferred. If I transferred money from my account to your, the money sticks with you. With Verizon, as you said, nothing is really moved from one line to another if you back out of the process.
