I will readily admit that I am an employee - I make no secret of it. I also make no secret that I am far from the typical brainwashed employee, and anyone who's spent much time reading my posts over the past either years I've been on here knows that as well. Its been evident in my posts, and evident on my own web site, phonecan.com. I don't like the subsidy system, and don't want it. Period. It gives consumers no choice, and reserves that right to the service provider. I make no qualms about stating that you don't get much choice under the current system.

As for grandfathering, it is simply a tool for good PR and to jeep customers happy for a time. But this is far from the first time Verizon or any other company has changed their mind on grandfathering, and I'm sure its far from the last. I've seen every major carrier do it, and as an employee, I've gained from those changes when people left their carrier for Verizon. I know its happened for others as well. Grandfathering is nothing more than making you feel warm and fuzzy for a time until they can justify otherwise. The norm is changing their mind over time, but not everyone sees that in the short term. They want the norm to be all about them, but in this business, the customer hold mostly wrong cards and the dealer is cheating.
