Verizon makes Store reps do this!!!!!

Verizon wants all the sales reps to sell ALL Smartphones, if we don’t we get pulled in the back and the manager asks why we just old a basic phone, because reps have to have a high Smartphone mix.

Why reps ask if you want 5 accessories with your phone is because if the sales reps dose not they get pulled in the back and the manager tells them that is not good enough. Because the company marks them up so high that they make a lot off them

Verizon says they want the rep to put the customer in the phone that is right for them but then they change how reps get paid and they make more money if they sell a Smartphone. And almost nothing on basic phones. And if you do sell a basic phone you get pulled in the back by the manager.

Reps ma...

Can you sell phones? That's apparently all that matters in your corporate culture. Good luck.

Um, it's where this business is going. Either get on the bus or get off.

Makes perfect business sense.

Regular feature phones can go with TracPhone.

This sucks but it's probably just as well. Vz's basic phone selection sucks!! They have the absolute worst in the industry and it's obvious that they are trying to get rid of this end of the business.

You really need to start doing business with Cellular Sales. They take care of all your needs no matter if its a smartphone or a basic phone. They are the ONLY verizon company i will ever deal with in the future. Personal service....no waiting in line, no signing in....The best service ever!!!!

go find a Cellular Sales store.

I can understand focusing on selling smartphones, but forcing people to sell them and talking down to them for selling basic or feature phones? That's stupid.

I really hate how Verizon has gone downhill in terms of just good ol' fashioned customer service. When you walk into their stores no one greets you with a hello or anything and most just want to pawn you off to their online store.
Last time I was in a corporate store I saw this sales rep trying to sell this little old lady a freakin Droid Razr! Like what the heck! Show some class, honestly.
Yes the business is going toward smartphones but many people still need and want basic phones, plus with a not so frugal data plan how does Verizon expect everyone to have a smartphone? Jeeze it doesn't make any sense.

You're a sales rep, i presume. Isn't that what Verizon is paying you to do? Sell their stuff?

I mean, if you don't want to make the most money possible with every transaction then you're probably in the wrong profession....justsayin

I thought the same thing, I have been in sales for a long time.... hell Mcdonalds is going to make you ask the customer if they want to value size their meal. How dare you try to push more coke on them than they need!

attitude of "i'm a sales person, but i just don't want to sell things to people"

Well, then, GTFO and go find a customer service profession or a retail clerk profession. This is sales. You either Sell or get get a new job.

Following the trend of today

"...third place is, you're fired"

Or maybe they just want to actually sell the people what they want to make them happy customers?

If you sell someone who wants a basic phone a Razr, they might come back upset about the features of the phone that they just couldn't figure out, then return the phone and cancel the service.

but a small one. I'm all for making happy, returning, profitable customers. If a customer wants a basic phone over a smart phone, thats fine. But i want my salespeople to show them smartphones and the benefits they entail. Every salesperson here has heard "i only want a basic phone" and has shown and demonstrated a smartphone which the customer bought and loved.

Quite simply, you start high and work your way down. Every customer needs to see a smartphone no matter what they buy.

I can't even find the desire to dignify much of a response to your comments.

Your $25 bonus is wrong (no one is making a clean $25 for selling a 4G device, they are attaining $25 toward their sales dollar quota, which is not a one-for-one commission payout).

As others have said, if you don't like the sales expectations, get out of the business. This year it's 4G, four years ago it was PDA smartphones with $29.99 unlimited data plans, five years ago it was VCast VPak, eight years ago it was high-tier plans and phones, and even further back it was something else. There have always been metric tracking in this business, the specifics simply change over time.

If your managers push the smartphone metric to the point of ridiculousness, ...
