It looks like the 4G phones are not compatible with my existing unlimited data plan.
...
I decided to contact the FCC about this. I believe this is a violation of the conditions under which the spectrum was leased.
...
I have a spectrum now and was able to keep unlimited. I also upgrade customers from 3g smartphone unlimited plans to 4g phones with unlimited every day.
...
I'm sure you do. However this is not possible through third parties or MyVerizon. I called Verizon to complain and the guy said he could do it. However the Rezound is seventy dollars more through Verizon than I can get it at Best Buy.
...
Im guessing this is what you mean by third party. I do this all day as well. Someone is telling you wrong. Ask for another rep.
...
Someone tells you you can't keep your unlimited plan, get another rep. The rule is that as long as you maintain a smartphone, any type (Android, iPhone, Blackberry, Windows) on the line that originally had the unlimited, then you're grandfathered in. Hypothetically, if you were to voluntarily "upgrade" from a smartphone to a basic cellphone, eg, LG Revere, then you lose the unlimited. Someone tells you otherwise, ask for someone else.
...
I've had unlimited data on both 3G and 4G phones. Although the rep tried to say it was a 4G only thing. Then I reminded him a friend with a 3G phone just got it. He was able to put it on my plan soon there after.
Although this plan is also through my employer.

Smartphones. Droid & iPhone.
...
That is an obvious and unnecessary answer.
...
that you seem to have a data plan that is either outside the norm, or you've run into way to many people that don't know what they're talking about. I'm guessing option number one, honestly. The only reason that you couldn't transfer unlimited data in the situation you are in is if you're going an old alltel plan or a really old verizon plan that has unlimited data "built in". I'd be interested in seeing what your account looks like.
How much do you pay a month for your unlimited data?
...
$29.99
If I upgrade with Verizon, it simply changes it from a 3G Unlimited to a 4G one.
But through Best Buy or Amazon or Radio Shack it does not give the 4G option. Verizon is cutting its agents throats there. I would have upgraded through Best Buy or Amazon. Now they are giving an extra $100 off the Rezound on the website now though so it is tempting.

Most likely, the agents don't know what they heck they're doing/talking about. Verizon hasn't forced any agent to push existing customers off of unlimited data. If they had, I'd be dealing with hundreds (if not more) of escalations in my store.
If an agent's web site is making you believe that you're being forced off of unlimited data, then their site needs reprogramming.
Worst case, if they drop you, you have 14 days to contact Verizon has have us file an inactive pricing request to fix it. Those, we ARE doing, but only because of situations where people activate old flip phones while waiting for warranty or insurance replacements.
...
...when I called VZW they explained that if upgrading through an agent that was correct, but one guy offered to do the request just as you stated, but...I declined. I don't trust VZW (no offense). I WAS going to go ahead and pay the $99.99 for the Rezound from vzw.com, but The One X has changed the game. They would have to GIVE me the Rezound for $0 and we both know that ain't happening. I guess I'll stick with my Tour and suspend it for half the year. The timing of this release. It was just two days ago that I was in my local store ogling the Rezound and now it is like Whatever.
...
Wait, you don't trust VZW but you want to upgrade through Amazon or Radio Shack instead? As if they're more reputable about Verizon stuff than Verizon? That doesn't make any sense at all.
...
I trust what I can see. When I upgrade at a website or in a store even Verizon I see the feature before I sign in person or submit. The Verizon rep is asking me to change my feature and have faith that I can get the old one back. No I don't trust them.
...
just go into an authorized premium retailer, or a Verizon corp store and upgrade the phone. You'll have no problems from there.
...
🙄
In any case, it is a non-issue for now. I was going to upgrade to the Rezound through vzw.com for $99.99 but the One halted my fervor. I'm going to wait.
