lrn2android, man. Get new phone, go to website and push every app that you've ever downloaded back to your phone in seconds.

also a superior way to browse for new apps, especially themes, launchers and customizable widgets.

My jaded review, as a Samsung Fascinate owner:

1) AMOLED is a battery hog. I've got the extended 2200 mAh battery in my phone, I leave it on minimum brightness with GPS and WiFi disabled 23 hours a day and I still can't make it 12 hours on a single charge with NO VIDEO and NO MUSIC playback (independent of issue #7, below). Just (admittedly excessive) simple web browsing and RSS surfing with 30 minutes of calls a day.

2) AMOLED (in any generation) is incapable of displaying "white" pixels. Great for TVs, Samsung, but worthless for an Internet consumption...

Well dude, you got a fascinate....every company makes bad phones from time to time. I've had friends and customers alike hate the fascinate. It's just a buggy phone. Does that really mean all of their phones suck??

Yes, because they're all using terrible AMOLED displays.

I've looked at the Charge and the Galaxy S 2 and the still have blue-screen.

Absolutely unacceptable for a smartphone. If it cannot display a white pixel, it is absolutely useless as an internet consumption device in my mind.

When they go back to LCD, I'll re-evaluate.

You're not looking at it properly.

Next time you're in a Verizon store, do the following :

1. Walk over to the Bionic display phone
2. Open the browser on both phones, and load Google.com
3. Hold the Charge right next to the Bionic and observe the VAST difference in color quality.
4. Throw your blue-screen AMOLED heap at the nearest large, solid object.

Try not to make that the salesman's skull. It's not his fault. Samsung decided to run with SmurfOLED in their top tier smartphones.

Really, Jay, they look terrible. The human eye just can't see how terrible unless you put them on the same table with a good screen and comp...

I've had amoled and led. The difference between the two isn't huge and only the extremely picky have a serious issue with it.

Samsungs have their issues, I agree. Touch wiz is pathetic, but to be so down over the hyper light blue instead of white is really justnit picking

It's not just that I can't get real white pixels on an AMOLED, it's that even when you try, it kills the battery about 4x as fast as an LCD does:

AMOLED is a terrible, terrible choice for an Internet consumption device because THE INTERNET IS WHITE. I use my phone primarily for browsing simple websites and Google Reader, and even with the 2200 mAh extended battery in my 4" AMOLED smartphone, I have to recharge it every 6 hours.

I used my wife's Droid X for a full day once, with the stock 1380 mAh battery, and lasted 14 hours before a refill! Almost double the life out of about half the battery, on a larger screen!

AMOLED in a smartphone is a sin a...
