Droid X getting glitchy

I know I should probably post this in the Droid X forum, but it doesn't look like there's been any activity in there for a few months. Anyhow...my phone just recently started getting weird when I hit the Home button (the actual physical button). Now, instead of taking me back to my home screen, it shows me the screen with my most recent activity. Sometimes I can't get back to the Home screen at all.
I thought maybe an update would fix it so I checked. There was an update available so I did it. Same stupid problem is still there.

Any ideas? ☚ī¸

Back up all your information and try a factory reset.

Yes, I know this is annoying, but the one thing I've notices with OTA's (specifically on skinned versions of android) is that they don't always place nice with currently installed apps.

Also, blur (at least the froyo blur) was horrible when it came to bugs. my brother has a Droid2 and he had to do a reset to get it to work properly again.

You never used a task killer right? if you did, you need to do a factory reset to undo the damage that app can do.

Well dang. Yes, I'm using Avanced Task Killer now. I've used it since I got the phone last July on the first day of the phone's release. The tech at Verizon recommended it. This is the first time I've ever had trouble with the phone. How do I do a backup and factory reset? Wouldn't even know how to begin. 😕

ATK is EVIL. Chances are good this is causing some of your issues, especially if you use it a lot.

As for backup, go into your settings in location and security and make sure any options about backing up your data are selected.

Anything on your SD card or linked to your google account (calender, email, etc) will be saved.

A factory wipe will make you lose:
-Your applications (you can redownload)
-phone/sms history (contacts should be saved)
-how your homescreen is set up.
-you'll need to sign into all your services (facebook, email, twitter, etc).

Remember your gmail account, as this will allow you to re-download all the apps you paid for again without payi...

The phone started getting worse thru the day yesterday. By evening it was totally locking up. I had to take it in to Verizon and they're doing a warranty replacement. Since it was so late in the day, my "new" phone won't arrive until tomorrow. In the meantime I'm using my wife's old env2. A mauve one. 🙄
