Occasionally, when checking my Comcast and Gmail accounts on my Fascinate there will be a blank email with the date of 12/31/1969. What does it mean? I have also had this happen on my Droid X.

Thanks!

Perhaps an event that's been wiped from our memories?

Hey Epik, you think maybe you could take a look at my question. Tell me what you think.

It's crazy, right?? I can't believe that no other Android users have experienced this. It has happened to me on 4 devices beginning with the Droid Eris (no jokes please), original Droid, Droid X, and now the Fascinate.

Guess I'll have to Google it.

This sounds like a case for Dr. Who and his Tardis. 😁

At least part of the significance here is that the "digital age" officially began on January 1, 1970 at 12:00:00 AM.

All modern computer measure time based on that reference point and count however many million seconds have elapsed since then.

If you're getting things that show the "day before the beginning" date, there's just some sort of email processing error.

Do you have the same timestamp error when viewing the exact same email messages from a full size computer in the web browser, or is it just happening on the Android?

Did you hack your phone? I'd put my money on a firmware issue.

You've got all the makings of a software problem, either in the OS or an app that's causing weird things to happen.

If you can find any consistency to the problem, I would recommend a device wipe to see if it's still odd after a clean boot. Make sure to delete all apps from the SD card and disable auto re-install before you do that.

Or, if it doesn't bother yo too much, just live with it.

Maybe in some way what you said helps explain why, for a while, this date appeared on all weather alerts from Weatherbug that I received on my BlackBerry .

I think CellStudent is on to something. I had a similar issue a while back where I would just receive totally blank emails. Mine was a little bit of the reverse though. I could see the blank emails on my computer... the from field was totally blank and the subject field said , the body of the email was blank as well. The time on the computer would show the time it was received, but I believe the once or twice these did show up on my phone they showed the date you mentioned above. While researching I ran across something that mentioned corrupt headers. I think that is what was happening. The email headers get corrupt and none of the information gets displayed correctly, including the date. Mine eventually stopped after a few week peri...
