HTC Thunderbolt and Insuance: Worth it?
Is it worth it?
I probably will get a new phone after 1 or 2 years.
Insurance: You don't have it when ya need it. When you have it, you don't use it.
Glad I could help 🤣
But yeah, insurance on a smartphone is most definetly a good idea!
However, they need to calculate over 2 years as there is no more annual upgrade on a 2 year plan. If they paid $200 on a 1 year plan, and then paid $183.87 in premeiums and deductible, they could get the phone replaced with most likely a refurb phone, but the insureance isn't redeemed at the end of the year, it is usually redeemed earlier, so they wouldn't have paid 83.88. It is always cheaper to get the insurance than pay full retail for the phone. Downside is if you don't m...

If you don't mind a used phone, I wouldn't pay for the insurance. If you're above that then you shouldn't be above paying the premium.

So forget about the LTE radio in the TB. Are you saying that the CDMA radio in the TB is different than the CDMA radio in every other 3G CDMA smartphone?
Yes.
Traditional CDMA smartphones use a single chip to process the 1x transmissions and the EVDO transmissions. A single chipset can only do one thing at a time.
With the Tunderbolt, HTC was not able to fit 1x, EVDO and LTE all into one chipset, so the device had to have two chipsets.
However, instead of using the same-old 1x+EVDO chip and throwing in an independent LTE chipset, they put in a stand-alone 1x recievier and bundled the EVDO and LTE on a single chipset.
This means that while your phone calls are being processed ove...

Besides that, I doubt that he has the money to pay for his Flexpay plan and the retail cost of that phone That would be a minimum of $220 up front. My bet is that he is on MetroPCS.
I am eligible for an NE2 Discount Upgrade + $100 Credit. It was effective 6/14/2010.
Right now, I can get a Droid X for free with NE2.
I would rather wait for an HTC Thunderbolt, Droid Bionic, or iPhone 4.
My questions:
-Is it worth using the discount and credit to stay with Verizon for 2 years?
-Which phone is the best?
-What would be the costs for the aforementioned phones? Will I have to pay more?

Incidentally, this was written the day before you were even registered, according to the system, but I'm willing to accept the possibility that there was an error somewhere in the sit...

Well ignoring him for a moment, epik let me respond to this statement you made.
"someone inside Verizon was dumb enough to even give you a $100 credit for no real reason"
I am certainly not validating this guys story, but your statement should nevertheless be addressed. When I was in Tech I had three supervisors who I could go to if I wanted to get a customer a break and yes on occasion it has been selling out a smartphone with discounts as much as the full retail price of the phone. Why would I do that? I would only go to bat for a customer if I felt it was justified, but sometimes the customers would request a supervisor. If the customer was being a *Bleepard* then I always flagged down the s...

And as for your frugality, I always tell people in the business that being a good employee and being a good person are often two different things. As long as you find a responsible medium while caring for others and not acting like a total d-bag, you're doing a good "job."
