...sucks. Sorry I couldn't resist. They all do, right? Except for Page Plus. Anyways...so I went down to the store to glance at the Thunderbolt. Yep! Evo clone looking like an overgrown Incredible. I was impressed, but not enough to consider upgrading from my Incredible...ever. Verizon is setting a dangerous precedent. Signing up customers on a feature and then removing that feature from their account. No way I risk my grandfathered features.

I would say, "But I've had those features since 2005 and you never changed them when I upgraded."

Those *Bleepards*: Tough! As we have established with the Ev--I mean Thunderbolt a feature CAN be removed from a phone if it is 4G and we've had enough of you raping us with this Unlimite...

Are you talking about the tethering app? It's like when they offered free media streaming for the NFL network. They're not "Signing you up for a feature" more than they are offering it on promotion, like they've done for YEARS with VzNav

I'm still sticking with my Incredible, but thanks for the clarification. So it is not a zero dollar feature that populates in the billing system and then goes away?

Not sure how the feature works. Haven't talked to Epik about it, or the other's I know in the industry. I'm just going off the wording I've read in press releases and the like.

Honestly, It wouldn't surprise me if it had the cost listed on the bill, and then a credit.

So: TBOLT LTE TETHER PROMO: $20
TBOLT LTE TETHER CREDIT: ($20)

Something like that. But I don't know. I'm happy enough with my Incredible for now, though I have it running Gingerbread, so I may be cheating.

Hey man! I need some accessories to trick out my Incredible. Can you recommend an indestructible case like they sell for the iphone and maybe a longer life battery? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I think I'm in bed with the Incredible for at least two years if not the four I went with the XV6900.

For cases, the Otterbox ones are top notch IMO. Downside is they don't work with the normal extended battery.

If you're ok going third party, Sedio makes a 3500mh battery and they make an otterbox style case that's compatible with it.

Right now I'm using the OEM extended battery and a Smartphone Experts leather pouch.

When you sell the phone it adds a new 4G device tethering code that's supposed to start charging after May 15. Since I haven't taken the time to look into it further, nor have I seen a bill, I can only assume the system works like it has for years by crediting the feature on the bill. I'll investigate further tomorrow.

Okay. THAT makes sense! They auto-added a 3G feature code when I added voice mail to my Incredible last night. I hope that doesn't come back to bite me.

Visual voicemail, I presume?

DO you know what the SFO description said?

No. I never had voice mail on my Incredible line. Just Basic Voice mail. Damn! Please don't let them take my unlimited tether away...

So its a special feature code that is deleted on May 15 with a software update. You then have to add a new code, which is not the same as the 3G hot spot code.

The way I understood it there really is no special code. I could be wrong. From what I'm gathering at this point the system can't differentiate the difference between the device data and tethering data. Part of me thinks that's the whole reason they have this promotion... because they couldn't stop the usage anyway at this point. They've said that on May 15th there will be an app to download for tethering. Sounds like it still may not be a feature we add in the system but honestly I think they're still trying to figure out how they're going to make it all work.

I think they're going to implement something that differentiates the usage through the app and then disable the current method that shows no difference in usage to the system.

I looked it up in the system. Its a special code. But you may be onto something on the why and how.
