Big iPhone/Android Question

When Verizon gets the iPhone, is it better to still get a droid phone or go with the iPhone? Just cause my annual upgrade is up soon and my NE2 is in August. So just curious.

You need to go with what fits your needs. There is no OS that is best for everyone. The best thing you can do is research your options and play around with all of the finalist in the store.

When it comes down to it, you are the one that has to use the phone everyday, not people on a forum.

One of the things I can tell you to do, is to make of list of deal breakers, and must haves. Sounds pretty simple I know, but it has helped me in the past narrow down phone choices.

And, of course, this is assuming the rumors about the iPhone on Verizon are true. With years of rumors, and another Verizon-Apple rumor every two or three months in 2010, it's hard to believe it's coming until there's something official announced.

Hard head? I'm trying to be practical. I'm not trying to be right about anything, and I'm not trying to set myself up for an "I told you so" if the phone doesn't launch. If an iPhone is launched in January like some are claiming, I'll be quite happy to see the phone sold for Verizon.

Here's my reasoning.

1) A new iPhone on Verizon rumor seems to come out every two or three months, with no resulting Verizon iPhone. If I told you it was coming every two or three months, with no result, you'd call me crazy.

2) I've worked for two newspapers. It used to be that rumor was left to the more sensationalized news sources. The Wall Street Journal was NOT one of those sources. Now, however, they've got some people who are willing to pri...

ok well the thing is they may have said a while ago that the iphone is being released to verizon. do you honestly think that they can just switch a few things in a few weeks? and it be fully funtional? i shure hope you do not. it takes at times years to do something little like that, they have to test and tweak things. it dont happen over night. yes they may have something every few months. people are waiting for this and there pretty much just putting updates out if anything. after verizon told aplle to shove it people have been waiting for this to happen. even at&t customers, i honestly couldnt deal with a crappy company for a crappy device.

truth be told im a gadget person. i usually know of things happening and i havent heard anything...

Which is essentially what I was trying to say. I'm not being hard-headed, I'm just being realistic. Until Verizon and Apple tell me something conclusive, I'm going to take any Verizon iPhone rumor with a grain of salt.

i really hope your not serious, ๐Ÿคจ why do you think they would pop out the ipad to the company? does that not give you some kind of inclination? ohhh... maybe like a release of there products. I'm sure if it was tested and ready at this exact moment they would drop it to the line up. honestly if they work for the company and they know of something like this I'm sure there told to keep it hush hush but so many diff places and resources are verifying this and even earlier this year i heard about it. so i dunno maybe I'm not cooped up like some.

Why would Apple let Best Buys ell it? Or Walmart? Or Radio Shack? or whomever?

Verizon is just another retail presence. It's an extra couple thousand stores that they can sell their product in without being responsible for any of the overhead costs.

Verizon carrying the iPad is a red herring. It's a true, but irrelevant, fact.

Everyone and their cousin sells an iPad now.

Does Verizon selling an iPad bode well for a possible Verizon iPhone? It certainly does. But I've been in this business long enough to know that everything changes tomorrow.

As for product testing, Verizon can take three months to a year to test a product. Assuming Verizon launches an iPhone in January, which is already almost three months out, that means they would have received testing units for testing sometime between January and October. Plausible? Sure, it is.

But none of this confirms anything. I could have spent the entire year predicting a wide variety of products, and still would have had a good chance at getting something right. No substantiated leak has made it's way int...

Perhaps Apple will only sell the CDMA iphone themselves, initially?

I know that is crazy, but so is the idea of selling it in January.

Verizon would NEVER, I repeat, NEVER let a device on their network like the iphone without getting their hands in the pie.

No?

Does Verizon currently offer technical support or warranty replacements on the ipad:
No

Heck, is there anything inherently special about the ipad OR the mifi being bundled together? No.

This is practically the same thing as when Sprint sold Overdrive's with cases that would carry your ipad as well except that Apple actually wrote off on this. Honestly, I'm surprised Sprint ISNT selling ipads by now.

NO ONE HAS VERIFIED ANYTHING. They are all quoting ANONYMOUS sources citing "People in the know" with no indication WHAT those people do. Again, show me one SHRED of evidence (not rumor) that points to a VERIZON iphone.

Someone reposting an article saying "These people said stuff" isn't verifying. That's parroting and...
