Eris 2.1 update & Incredible (rumors?)
I read on the Verizon Android forum about a couple pieces of info a guy got outta Verizon. The Eris 2.1 update is looking like the end of April at the latest, and the Incredible is still being tested by HTC but needs to be finished by June. Verizon also has not actually committed to selling the Incredible, and if they do won't guarantee it'll be available as an upgrade. This info was under a Incredible update thread & towards the end. Now I don't know how reliable this guy is or if this is the kinda thing that normally happens when releasing a phone (commit to sell & upgrade availability) but I figured I'd put it here to let ya know what's being said over there. Not saying 100% true, don't kill the messenger!

I believe I read on either Engadgets website or BGR that the HTC Incredible's are sitting in a warehouse awaiting release.
Personally I'm not intrigued by a smartphone that doesn't have a physical slideout keyboard.

I thought the same thing. But after hating the keyboards on the Droid, I have an Eris and I don't miss a physical keyboard AT ALL. I rarely use my keyboard in landscape mode, either. I use one hand and portrait to text most of the time. HTC has one of THE BEST virtual keyboards out there. I know several people with Droids and they rarely (if ever) use the physical keyboard. Most of them also claim it just created extra weight and is unnecessary. Prepare to be intrigued by the Incredible...if that's your big issue.

I don't know what the deal is but I can't access that link you posted. It just comes up Access Denied. I even did a search on Google, it showed the link and said 3 hours ago, but when I try to access it either regularly or cached I get nothing. All I can figure is 1. they're still pulling this April 1st bull****, or 2. The story wasn't supposed to be run and they pulled it. So either AC's people are messing with us, or VZW/HTC are. Maybe I should try that when I pay my bill next time. Rumor has it that it will be paid on the 22nd, oh, no in two weeks, oh wait a sec now there is no set date to receive the payment. That'd go over like a fart in church.

When I do a Google search that's the first to come up, but it always goes to a page that says access denied. I even tried searching in the site and the forums. Also, if the one you're talking about is the HTC Desire, from what I've seen that is adifferent phone. There was also a bit of confusion as that was also the codename for the Eris before it was launched, like the Sholes or Calgary for Moto which I believe turned out to be the Droid and Devour. It almost seems like April 1st was like a day off for the reporters at these mobile sites. The stories they posted could have been made up in about 5 minutes and tehn they got the whole rest of the day for whatever. I GET IT, IT'S PRANK DAY! LIKE EVERYONE ELSE ISN'T DOING IT AS WELL. FUNNY I DON...

If Verizon hasn't committed to it, they wouldn't have a stock number for the unit as well as a stock number for the launch kit (display demo). I can see both in the inventory system right now.

It says that the Tour and Eris will be discontinued in June. Now....after months of waiting they finally released OS 5.0 for the Tour, but does anyone think they will discontinue the Eris before releasing 2.0 or 2.1? I bought the Eris only because they (Verizon) promised it would be updated in the coming months to 2.0 or 2.1. Its sitting in a box....till that beloved day âšī¸
