ATT or ?
The new pricing is a little confusing, I need phone service, emails maybe texting. I landed a new job and they will have a form we fill out on a BlackBerry and add photos to it and send it. At ATT I was looking at the BB 9700 Bold, what BB does Verizon have that is compatable to it?? If you could break down the pricing for what I need so I can better understand my cost,TY!! in advance.
Pricing will be pretty similar to what you're used to. Data on the blackberry will be 29.99 a month unless you need to access your company's BES server (then it will be 44.99) Ask your IT department at your new company if you need Wireless Sync/BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server) access.
Voice plans are similar to ATT:
450 anytime minutes - 39.99
900 anytime minutes - 59.99
Unl anytime minutes - 69.99
Texting plans are also pretty similar. from 250 messages for 5 up to unlimited for 20.
How much do you use the phone for calling/texting?
The BlackBerry Tour is the CDMA verison of the Bold.
Plans like Menno said start at:
39.99 for 450 mins, and has unlimited mobile to mobile calling and unlimited night and weekends.
59.99 for 900 mins, 5 Friends and Family numbers, and has unlimited mobile to mobile calling and unlimited night and weekends.
69.99 for Unlimited Calling.
Data plans for BlackBerrys are 29.99 for BIS and 44.99 for BES.
Texting plans include unlimited Text, Picture, Video, and IM. The prices are:
5.00 - 250 messages
10.00 - 500 + Unlimited to Verizon Customers
15.00 - 1500 + Unlimited to Verizon Customers
20.00 - Unlimited on Talk & Text Plan.
*Unlimited calling plan (69.99) will not work with discount. AT&T is like this too.
$40-70 a month for minutes
$5-20 a month for texting
$30 a month for data
=
$70-120 a month depending on options chosen.
As mentioned, might get a discount thru work for either carrier. Restrictions apply, as also mentioned.
Sprint and T-Mobile have different options, some better... but their coverage maps are smaller (free roaming on Sprint tho).
Verizon Blackberry: Storm2, 8530 and the Tour. Of the three of em, I'd go for the Tour personally.
Its for a new job basically and need to send info on application going to be added to phone with pictures so not sure if that is considered a text or?
Talking not sure really, now i use 500 plus minutes but that can change.
I was looking at Boost and Straight talk but after spending money on new phone i can get a free one with ATT or Verizon well almost free.
To make a move coverage is prob biggest thing for me.
When putting the info in on website for discount, where exactly??
Thank You guys for the info, appreciate your...

The Tour is on sale right now for 99.99. It's also buy on get one free (if you were going to have 2 lines).
Service in your area is very good tho. I don't think you would have any problems at all really.
BlackBerry can't be used on Straight Talk, and Boost does not roam when you leave Sprints network (which would not work in in rural areas of AZ).
Although Boost has release a couple CDMA phones... no roaming applies in that situation - cheaper plan for loss of benefits (roaming and possible family plan rates)

I was considering pre pay, no contract ( you have to pay for the phone but its like half what they say retail is) but no contract now days sounds better cause things always changing?? Boost was one I looked at but??
And Verizon will let you sign a one year contrat. When you do that, you can upgrade in 10 months insted of the full 12. They are the only wireless network that allows that. I think you would be very happy with Verizon in your area. I recieved an email on Facebook from someone on AT&T today. He said he doesn't get great service in his house too and was looking at Verizon for a BlackBerry. I helped him out with the plan and everything. He can even get s discount with Verizon.
Then just take it into Verizon, port your number in and ask for no contract plan..... that way if you want to change down the road you have no contract and you can just throw the BB back on ebay and get most of your money back.
I personally have a hard time believing that Boost will have a better signal then AT&T if that is your major concern...but I guess it is possible for that specific location.
Boost and Straight talk, afaik, fail in coverage and internet. Unlimited on a crappy network or with crappy phones is what you get with your lower bill.
Boost's BB IS CDMA... but you lose roaming capabilities and possible family plan discounts. Phones 1 thru 5 are each $50... phones 2-5 on AT&T/VZ are $10-20 each. (may or may not mean anything to you).
With EITHER provider - look at "Air Raves" aka airaves - that may or may not help you at home. If you have high speed internet, you can basically setup your own cell tower at home.

Thanks guys for the info it helps!!
Where I'm at, their coverage blows. The main difference between Sprint and T-Mobile is that Sprint has free roaming on Verizon, while T-Mobile doesn't have it on AT&T. That is HUGE where I'm at.
*BUT* with that being said... if they have coverage where your at now - friends houses, home, work and in between - then they are a good option.
I lean more towards Sprint ($70 a month includes *ALOT* more), but T-Mobile isn't that bad. As long as your not on Flex-Pay. If they say Flex Pay - don't walk... run.

If contract bothers you, buy a used Tour on eBay and activate no-contract. The rate plan costs are the same and you're not tied down at all if your job changes and yo...
