restocking fee question

Verizon81

Dec 21, 2009, 9:22 PM
I had a question about the $35 restocking fee.

I renewed my 2 year contract and purchased a phone at promo price...the website says a $35 restocking fee exists if i exchange phone or return and purhcase a new one within 4 days.

does that mean I can return and revert back to my old contract date etc and have no restocking fee if i return my phone and activate my old phone and wait a week or two?

thanks

If you return your phone, you will be charged a restocking fee, whether you get a different phone or reactivate your old phone. The restock fee will only be waived if you are VIP customer, and the VIP program is going away the end of feb 2010.

If you return your device and wait until after 3 days to get another one you are not charged a restocking fee

They are not getting rid of it in Feb. That is when it starts over. Each year Verizon re-checks customers and adds more to the VIP program. Pretty much, they just update the list every Feb.

Actually, Infomanager does say that it will expire in Feb, and will not be renewed for 2010.

No, the restocking fee is a Corp standard. some retailers may not charge it, but in the 4-5 corp stores I've looked at, they all charge that restocking fee.

If you are not a VIP customer you will be charged the restocking fee. The phone is being return to Verizon used.

The VIP program will be gone at the end of Feb 2010.

Please read your receipt, you will be charged the 35.00 restocking fee. It is clearly outlined on your receipt. VZW611LA is giving incorrect info again, the VIP program will be ending Feb 2010 unfortunately.

Returned my Tour to a Verizon corporate store and went back to my Curve and was not charged a restocking fee. Was told that the restocking fee only applies if I were to chose another phone to replace my Tour not if I was simply reactivating my Curve.

Verizon81, if you go back to your old phone, your contract end date and your new every two automatically goes back to what it was prior the upgrade.

Not sure if this is true information. If you signed a new contract to take advantage of discount pricing on a new phone and then returned that device and activated an old device, you are still under the new contract. The contract is not cancelled because you returned the new device.

It will reset to your prior upgrade date and contract end date.

The restocking fee applies if you exchange the phone for another phone unless you are VIP until the program ends at the end of Feb.

If you return the phone you are not obligated to the contract you signed for the phone and all of your contract and upgrade dates will be reset to its previous dates.

If you return the phone and get another phone within 3 days then you will have the restocking fee.

If anyone at the store gives you any type of problems, print out what you see on the website to show them. It will also be on the customer receipt.
