BeachSlapped

All the reviews I've read so far have not been good. Do you guys have another Storm in your forecast or what?

only one I've seen so far was the Engadget one and it was positive (only real detractors were the keypad, and some screen lag)

the pcmag one mentioned call quality, but I've read at least two reviews that said the droid had the best call quality they've tested.. I'll wait for more reviews to hit before I make a final judgment on that part.

I am interested in all reviews but the ones by the majors sure give it decent marks.

Not sure what BeachSlapped has been reading, as all the reviews I've read are positive with exception to minor quibbles on the physical keyboard and camera. Even then, reviewers pretty much praised the Droid. Besides, the Droid has (so far) only been reviewed by the press...so any consumer reviews won't be out until after the 6th. My guess is, "flaming" 😉

Beach is an AT&T fanchick and always tries to fire up the VZ forum. She's taking a shot at the Storm 2 and the Droid in one post. Just ignore her.

HAHA, you are so dumb! All the reviews have been great. This is going to be a great phone. I already have iPhone users ready to switch to this phone.

Um why? I work for VZW, the whole iDont marketing tactic is just that... marketing. As far as performance, the iphone is still the better device minus the camera. Android in the future will issue a threat, but it will have to be made by someone other than Motorola. I'm curious to see how HTC fairs with the Eris.
It would be nice to see an android phone with no lag. That's the one thing motorola can NOT do... is make a phone that runs smoothly.

What I want to see:

HTC Droid Dragon

The Eris should work great for average users, but for people who want ultimate tweakability, the Droid looks like a decent device. Software glitches should/can be solved by software updates (as shown by the Storm1 5,0 software) The Processer on the Droid is a powerful one (not a moto knockoff) so it could just be as simple as a software patch to fix that. I'm really sad about the keyboard though.. Let's hope they get that right for the Droid2

Though HTC seems deadset against making a high end Android Device.

It will be interesting to see what LG makes (read they were looking at entering the smart phone market)

Because AT&T's network is crap. Everyones iPhone is more like an iPod Touch.

Have you seen this phone yet? There is no lag from what I saw. It is very fast. The screen is amazing.

He is commenting on the official review here that noticed screen lag with the camera application. (I believe)

I think all it will take to sell this phone is to pull up CNN.com/foxnews.com or something on the browser and the phone will sell itself.

I can't WAIT to buy one of these myself (though I might have to wait until February if I want to get it for upgrade pricing)

I didn't mean to bash VZW or anything like that... I fully agree with Menno, I wish HTC would go all out with the Android platform or better yet, let LG take a whack at it. I guess I've just lost nearly all faith in Moto with their recent batch of phones... they all are at least a little laggy. (Krave! haha)

from what i've heard, this is basically a google phone, they just made moto buck up the production cost money but google designed it.

with the processor and memory this thing has, any lag should be software based instead of hardware (like the krave)

Played with it yesturday, and yes it LAGS! Android will be a great operating system in the next few years, but at the moment everyone is going to have to deal with the growing pains of a new system. And VZW611la is a fanboy. He promotes everything Verizon no matter how much bs it is. NO ONE CARES about your opinion! Bias doesnt help anyone! I have a Verizon Blackberry for work and an Iphone for myself. Both work great! I dont have dropped calls on either phone and the speeds vary, email is faster on the blackberry, but everything else that is data based is faster on the iphone. I tried the Droid yesturday at a prerelease party, and while it is an impressive phone, it still cant match the iphone, and wont be able to atleast for the ne...

I have played with the droid for 2 days and have not experienced any lag in this phone. I don't know what or where you got to see the phone. I have tested and it does not have any of the issues you state. Motorla has made good devices in the past and this is a good device.

I tried it at a release party for motorola and android. The touchscreen lagged for me when I used it. Also loading was alittle slow for web browsing, but that was more a service issue then the device. All in all I did like it, I just though the touchscreen could have been smoother and with no lag. Plus I'm used to the iPhone touchscreen and the touch pro 2, and they don't seem to lag at all so that's could be it.

with one today and I must say its gonna be HUGE. Very fast, very nice screen, overall this is really gonna take a lot of air out of Apples sails. I also used the new HTC and liked that one more but was concerned cause it was not running 2.0 and they had no idea if it was gonna have it available.

Dang YOU!

I just bought my tour and I'm already budgeting to get the Droid within two weeks.

I was content to wait a bit but then I heard that you basically need an activated phone to show the customer anything, and the fact that my tech rep sounded like a school girl who just got her first kiss when he was talking about it.

Mind if you give us your thoughts on it after you play with it? Professional reviews are nice, but I'd like to know what you think.

you can show the phone without being activated. When it boots up touch the corners of the screen in this order. Upper left, upper right, lower right lower left. Then it will go to the home screen and you can let people see it. It wont call but you can turn on wifi and browse and play

Most people want to see the maps application, which doesn't function.. our wifi (from the coffee shop) isn't decent enough to show it.

But I have a fully functional droid.. Time to un-pimp the pocket!
