WirelessFamily

Just curious...I have had my blackberry storm replaced 2 or 3 times becuase of issues that have been verified by VZW tech support. (My wife is on her 1st replacement) How many phones do i have to go through before I can swap it for something different?

Thanks

Rule is that you can switch to a different device if you have had 3 replaced within a 90 day period for the same issues. This will extend you upgrade eligibility but not the contract end date. If you don't meet the requirements, I suggest that you politely ask to speak with a manager to see if it at all possible you can go to a different device. Sometimes customer service will replace it also. But if you go in screaming or yelling, most times you won't get the different device. You may be able to get yours replaced now if you are having issues and it is notated on your account of the issues you are having by techincal support. Good luck.

Where did you hear that? Multi-exchange is a new device of the same type rather than a CLNR. When customers are allowed to switch to a different model that is purely at manager's discretion.

I have the Blackberry Storm, I've had it since December 2008, and to date I am on my 5th Storm.

In the last 90days I've had 3 replaced, I kid you not, all for software issues. Not that I have asked to be switched into anything different cause I don't want anything VZW has other than the storm, but I just wanted to let you know I am on #5 replacement.

I haven't either but was just curious...i don't like that it used my equipment upgrade early....my opinion is if the phones are a lemon it is not the fault of the customer (therefore should not use my upgrade).

when i called today the tech told me well i will do you a favor and just replace it...I probably shouldn't but.

I am not kidding the above is exactly what he said...made me feel like I was doing something wrong by swapping out my defective phone.

sheesh

I would say that 7 out of 10 Storms I see in my store are not defective. They are either user error, or the customer has unrealistic expectatons about how the device should function, especially regarding touch screen response speed.

Here's how it works:

First, you have to have three replacements all within 90 days of each other.

Second, it WILL take your upgrade and push it out 20 months.

Third, Verizon picks your replacement. There is a matrix that specifically lists what each model would be replaced with under this program. Unfortunately, the phones at the top of the "food chain" are replaced only with the same model (new out of the box instead of certified like new replacements). The Storm is replaced only with the Storm. I think most people assume you have your choice of whatever. You don't.

Fourth, I usually try to talk customers out of this entirely. Why use your upgrade like that? Sure, you're not paying anything to get that brand-new phone, ...

to Epik:
I don't know which state you live, but if you bought an lemon in NY state, you actually can get your money back, and you do not have to deal with it. Same with the wireless devices, I could not care less what contract Verizon writes, if you have to replace a phone constantly, you actually can ge tout from the contract without ETF,if you choose so. No court
in NY will be on Verizon side.

As far as I know cell phones or not, all fall
under common business law, you pay for the product or service, and you expect the product
to work and same the service. A contract between you and phone company is like any other
business transaction, both parties are responsible for their end of the deal.

And as long as you are provided with a working unit under warranty, how would it fall under the lemon law??? Is because you want a different device other than what you have? As long as the warranty replacement is working, then that should be satisfactory per the warranty correct?

Of course if warranty replacement is working,
the lemon law does not apply, but if it happens 3 times, there is no court in NY, would rule for wireless provider, I know it
happen to my friend. I personally never had problems with Verizon.

For reference, I've also seen numerous swap-outs of LG Chocolate 1$2, Dare, Voyager, Samsung Glyde, u340, Moto Razr, W755, Krzr, Q, Audiovox/PCD GzOne Boulder, GzOne Type S, XV6700, (no one will soon forget) just about any Palm phone ever made, and much more. For most people, they never have a problem. For some, they have one - maybe two - replacements. For a small number, they just seem to have replacement after replacement.

Remember, people are many time more likely to complain when they have a bad phone experience, but only half as likely to praise a good experience.

For us in the business, we only see problems. No one ever comes in, specifically to hand me their phone, and say, "look at this, I love this phone and I've never ha...

So true....I have had my storm since the first release. No issues at all and never replaced.. but people will always complain. We have conditioned our customers by giving them what they want when they complain.

You sound like Verizon is some kind of charity,
and gives away phones for nothing. Well, at least I did not receive anything for nothing, and of course you know, that all these 'free' phones are not really free. Yes there some customers, who will complain about anything, but most are honest.
